Default The Future of Futsal in the US

Over the past few years of coaching youth soccer, I have become a big fan of Futsal, not just as a way of training during the winter for outdoor soccer but as a sport in itself. Besides being an excellent way for players to develop skills it is also a fast paced exciting game to watch. It is popular as such in other countries but not here in the US.
It seems that the small pitch and 5v5 format (like Basketball) should make it a much more TV friendly sport than outdoor soccer, where you don't see the whole pitch during closeups and players look like specs of dust when you can see the pitch.
Do you out there see any possibility of Futsal becoming a professional or College sport in the US? Any ideas about why it hasn't been going in that direction?
Do you think the competition between Super F League and USFF helps or hinders the development of Futsal?
