Default 2009 Commitment

from the st. pete times

Gaither star pledges to Florida
Jo Dragotta, a standout forward for the Gaither girls soccer team, has committed to the Florida Gators. And she's only a junior.

"Technically, tactically and athletically, she has all the tools to be a very good Division I prospect," Gaither coach George Fotopoulos said. "She might be the best forward I've seen coming out of this area."

That's saying something.

Fotopoulos, it should be noted, previously was the head coach at both LSU and the University of Tampa. And he recruited locally for more than a decade.

"It's hard to highlight what she does best because she does everything well," Fotopoulos said. "But she really dominates the air.".

The 5-foot-8 Dragotta, a three-year starter, led the Cowboys during the 2007-08 season with 14 goals.

"There's no question (she can play at UF)," Fotopoulos said. "There's not a lot of players I've seen in this area I feel can play there, but I think Jo can play there.â€￾

Why when people promote a player do they have to tear down other players in the process?

Every other player in the area. Why not just talk about her instead of saying that no other player in the area could play at UF?

That was a pretty silly statement to begin with.

Maybe at HCU, but that's it. There are many forward better than this player and many of them younger.

Didn't he get fired from both. Not to mention the whole rip off at Palm Harbor.

She is a good player , not a great player. With the huge numbers and quality that UF is bringing in this year and next. Hear that the roster will be 42 players. Playing time will be very limited, if at all, for new players joining this team. Best of luck to her in the future

why do you carry 42 players? seems like a waste if you are sitting the bench but could start somewhere else.
