At the risk of having this thread deleted. I was recently reminded that the women on the U.S. Women's National Team had to drag the Federation into court and sue them so the Federation would grant the women athlete a "living wage." "Living wage" translated: so the world class women athletes would not have to live with their parents at the age of 26 and after winning a World Cup. So this is the organization that is going to provide "free soccer" to thousands of young women across the country all of the sudden?

You are right. They will not. They only care about the WNT in so far as it brings them wins and advertising $. They care about women's soccer about as much as FIFA cares about women's soccer. This will never happen in any of our kids' soccer lifetimes, even ulittle kids. They don't even do it on the boys' side (the mandate is to have "lower" fees and only MLS clubs with deep pockets are free) so why would they do it for the women? Someone is having a good laugh with this thread.

Fact- go to cities like NYC, Philly, Baltimore and DC and you will find the sport of soccer is huge in the intercity and always has been. Look at any of the rosters of NYC area DA clubs, Philadelphia Union, or Baltimore Celtic or Baltimore Under Armour along with DC United. Those rosters are diverse. Not just in race, but also income levels. Those clubs are some of the best in the nation.

This is awesome! My daughter chooses to play ECNL because she refuses to be owned by GDA. The outlined business model outlined is guaranteed to fail. No one is going to provide free soccer when there is cold hard cash to be made. This would be the best thing to happen to ECNL for 2017/18 as all the clubs bail because they can't afford DA. Can't wait to see GDA implode in Florida.
