I heard from CP at Weston that girls DA will NOT allow girls to play HS. They just are waiting til tryouts are over.

Instead of complaining, actually, do something to solve this apparent problem. You may also...not visit this site, it may seem like a small gesture and I highly doubt those that run this forum even make enough from the ad revenue to cover the hosting cost, but it would still show your displeasure. Although, not sure how much anyone can miss "random forum contributor who does not register".
Don't see any complaining in that quote, which seems to indicate that you have a reading comprehension deficiency.

USSF does allow for HS play if the club and USSF approves. A club can easily tell players no, and most will tell most players no. Private school kids and a few super studs will get waivers if a club even grants them (many boys clubs do not). Players cannot do any DA activity while playing HS which is why clubs really don't want to waiver players - it's a ten months season so missing key players can really hurt.

Now if a club doesn't tell players one thing before tryouts then pulls the plug on the players that is a real sh** move.

GDAs are desperate for the very top players and therefore allow them to play high school to suck them in.

Look for lots of waivers this year and this year only.

Non issue in south Florida , where high school soccer is horrendous anyway

                  It's not complicated at all.
Play DA if you want to play the best. If you don't make DA, play ECNL and then maybe you get picked up for DA.

Play DA if your HS team sucks, you don't make varsity, don't want to play nay other HS sports or you don't want to have a life.
                    fixed it

You're totally clueless !!! American Heritage and St Thomas Aquinas have won 3 of the last 5 National Championships in girls HS soccer! .... and MCCarthy, Pines Charter, Cypress Bay and Douglas can compete with any of the top teams in the Nation!
Girls HS Soccer is South Florida is top notch !!

It would be too hard on any girl to give up that high school social prestige for DA.

Agreed. Keep in mind you're responding to a panicked Weston or BU parent who is desperately afraid that the best talent will run away from those GDA programs. You and post #41 are right on the mark. The chance to be a hero for your school is tremendously appealing to nearly all elite female soccer players.

In cases such as that of course GDA won't hold much appeal to almost any player. Plenty of other HS soccer is awful so leaving becomes easier. Then there's the in-between programs that are decent, not great, which probably describes most HS programs. There the appeal of playing for your school is still very strong. GDA will get many top players but not all, not by a long shot.

Plus in South FL the travel is awful....

                              Well then don't play GDA.

But herein lies the main issue. You see, it is no longer acceptable for people to only worry about themselves. They must worry about everyone around them to make sure they and their children do not excel to a level higher than themselves.

If MY child cannot play GDA and high school, then NO OTHER CHILD should be able to do it, regardless of their circumstances or choices.

People do not want to see success. They want to see failure.
