5 GTB teams played SC last year, with EO's team making the semifinals. WC had 2, and I think West Pasco had 1 play.

How so? Are you a team parent? No, you're not, or you would realize you are wrong.

Pasco's biggest problem is that there are way too many clubs in the county. Yes, it's true that al lthe clubs are USA league types of clubs, but if someone wised up and merged a couple of clubs, say GTBFC and WC, then they would be able to play in better leagues and be competitive. Until that happens, parents will continue to take the better athletes out of Pasco to surrounding clubs.

This is the same argument that has been going around for years. Ego, $$$$, power and control have prevented it from happening. Those are the same reasons that will prevent it from happening in the future.

Quite sad, it should be about the kids, isn't everyone tired of watching talented kids leave their clubs in Pasco for greener pastures? Lutz/Wesley Chapel/GTBFC should all merge and form one club, the result would be a benefit to the area.

I live on the border of Pasco and Hillsobourough and can get to four clubs inside of 20 minutes---- to your point. There are people on both sides of WC/GTBFC who are banging the merger drum and the leadership is not listening in either place. It is beyond frustrating. There are now close to 60 teams between the two clubs. The quality would not be there at the beginning, but a merged staff w/ merged players would help keep the better older players in place. The whole current situation is just plain stupid.

I believe a merger between lutz and GTBFC would be the best move for the kids in this area. The combined program would have quality teams in all age groups.

That's the problem with mergers - the merged staffs. Everyone at the top of the masthead gets a title of director of something and the parents pay higher fees with no noticeable benefit other than to support the more expensive bureaucracy. Our family went through three different mergers/affiliations over the years. The only thing that changed was the color of the uniforms and the cost to participate.

I think the key takeaway is not to merge with the chargers. Mergers can be very effective if done correctly. The teams in Atlanta cover big areas with multiple teams in each age group.

                          Two major problems there:
Difference in Fees after U10 (They are virtually the same U9 and U10; plus rec.)
The cross county thing because Pasco throws a Tizzy about it.
Philosophical differences between MR and MC (DOC's; titles, licensure, etc.)

Okay, that is three things. As far as the player pool; it would be great.

Agreed. Player pool could increase in quality. I think MR and MC need to have a beer summit and work something out.

Will not happen. They tried to make a all star team from the area clubs with the FASL program a few years back. It was a good program my son played a couple on of the teams with other area players. Great for the boys. Similar to super Y but just for tournaments. Politics quickly took over and it fizzled out.

Wesley Chapel has no interest in merging with GTBFC since GTBFC seems to want to control the terms of a merger. GTBFC might have better luck with Lutz as a possible merge partner. The bottom line is until they create a merged club, kids are going to continue to pass by the clubs in Pasco for TBU, WFF, etc.. and the clubs in Pasco are all pretty much limited to playing in the USA League. Someone needs to break out of this mess and establish a club that can play in the CDL, or other top leagues, not just one or two teams from a club but teams from all age groups.
