If last night's game didn't prove the point that you need more than just athleticism to win at the highest levels of sport, I don't know what does. The Patriots are a case study in perseverance and mental toughness. So what are youth soccer team coaches doing to develop this trait in their players, especially their physically gifted players? Is this something that can be developed or is something some athletes just are born with? If it can be developed, how?

You are always going to have your outliers:
There's not many 5'5" stars on a football field, nor are there many 6'6" 275-lb stars on the soccer pitch.
But, RBs & DBs could mix with many soccer players.
