I'm going to guess that most soccer players would rather earn $20,000 a year playing soccer than sit behind a desk.
People in this board seem to want to dismiss anything but the absolute best. Best club. Best training. Best college. Best professional team or best International team. All others, you people dismiss as complete garbage. Yea, I know, us Americans shoot for the best and all that. Guess what... Not realistic for 99.999 percent of human beings.
How many parents that bash USMNT, or MLS teams would give your left nut to have played for either in your younger days? Even for a season?
Stop already with the Ricky Bobby philosophy of "If you ain't first, you're last" mentality. There is a reason that it was the epic line in a COMEDY.
Sure... Shoot for the stars. But kid isn't a failure because he plays D2 in college. A player isn't a failure because he plays for the Galaxy, or even for the Rowdies. He is a winner because he is doing something that 99.9+ percent of men could not and will never do.
To put them down is just a sad attempt and bringing yourself up. Stop already. The comparisons people make regarding youth soccer are akin to saying if you are not a preacher then you aren't a Christian. If you aren't the president than you failed as a politician. If you aren't the best brain surgeon then you are just a nurse. If the company you founded isn't a top 500 Forbes than you run a lemonade stand. Or... If your kid isn't the best soccer player in the world than you are a failure as a parent no matter how much you did to help him.
Ridiculous? Yep.

Contacting coaches is good (you'll get their sales pitch) but there is good information on this site if you have the time to sift through some of the responses.
