You made a good point. USA da academy is the next step for the serious soccer player. Playing loco soccer won't get you there. Improve your soccer resume by playing at highest level. Get your child on to the academy stage ASAP.

The soccer in the MLS is not as bad as some of the posters say. I love to watch all soccer and I have seen some bad games in every league. What I love about the MLS and you should too, if you gave it a chance, is the competitiveness and the parity. Each year in most of the leagues, you know who the winners are going to be, not in MLS. The atmosphere at the games is getting better each year and with more teams coming into the league, such as NYCFC, OC, Atl, Miami and Minnesota, the league is going to explode in viewers. With the improvement in each teams development academy that will easily produce at least 2 high quality domestic players each year, watch out, MLS will be a force to be reckoned with on a global scale. Many of the other leagues around the world are in financial chaos and those players, with an increase of the salary cap, which is going to happen with the new television deal, those players are now looking at the US as a very viable option. By 2022, eight years from now, we will have 24 teams, each in their own stadium or a shared stadium with a soccer canopy system with a state of the art development academy. You see, what soccer has, just like hockey, is that the players are good guys that stay out of trouble, are not gangstas, don't take steroids. The other thing that is has going for it is the National team component, it is truly an international sport with a true World Champion. Not many sports like that. Soccer is already in the consciousness of America and it can only get much better from here. Once people overcome their stereotype of soccer being a sport for pansies, which anyone who has ever played can verify that it is not, and another generation grows up with the MLS and when we finally get our Ranoldo like american player, soccer will be the biggest sport in the country.

Just because ESPN covers MLS and marketing budgets have grown does not make MLS pleasing to the eye.

Nonsense. There's a lot of good people who volunteer their time or work for peanuts because they love the sport.

Very much true and there are a lot of people who waste other people's time and money by taking over a club or a team and basing it upon their little group of kids only.

Really? There may be a few of us, but in my 15 years of soccer club experience the majority of youth soccer parents have been more willing to pay an additional fee than they have been willing to volunteer.

Academy is the only way to go. The worse thing is to travel three hours to a game and see the ODP player using it as a practice for his upcoming camp and never passes the ball which ruins the game for everyone. Funny thing is that ODP player is not even the best player on the team.

local coach on Judge Judy

a Donovan Nelson from tampa just appeared on Judge judy suing a fellow player in a mens pick up game for defamation saying that the other player wrongly accused him of assault.... the defendant allegedly dropped charges as it would have meant Nelson , a long time coach ,would have been barred from coaching kids.

Nelson lost and was adjudged to have assaulted Mr Chavez who was awarded $2500 damages.

Mr Nelson appears to be/have been a coach at the Chargers.........................naughty boy
