It's been a rough year, the "incident" from last season in addition to losing several players has taken it's toll. It's not hopeless and they can still bounce back and make the tournament considering they still have a few crappy Merrimack teams left to play. Fortunately, Madison Park is down this season and they play them at home, in addition to playing, 0 for Cambridge.
They already lost to one of those "crappy Merrimack teams" lol
I've seen Somerville play a handful of times and their record doesn't match their talent. Early in the season their starting goalie got a concussion and needed staples as a result of a challenge during the brockton game. He has been out ever since. The games I've seen, goalkeeping has killed them with the lack of a serviceable backup available. Couple that with the fact that they do not have a true goalscorer on their team and it results in plenty of low goal scoring games. No goalscorers and bad goalkeeping is a recipe for disaster and that's what we've seen in Somerville this year.

But what is your point? There are a multitude of teams out there who would be much better with a good goalie and a reliable goal scorer. Such is soccer. Either the team has the talent or it doesn't. It appears this is a down year for Somerville. I think its as simple as that.
Sometimes when you have a strong defense, you can get away with an average goalie and still win games. There have been countless teams that have gone onto the EMass finals and have not had a great goalie.
The year Somerville lost to Needham, that was a very subpar defense to go along with an inexperienced goalie, though he played much better in his senior season. Sometimes, even having a great offense can help out your D and goalie by maintaining possession of the ball and keeping it at the offensive third of the field.
They are now 4-2 -1 in conference with only one game left Vs Nauset…Not sure why a result Vs Barnstable matters
Its called their league, not their conference. Besides Nauset, their league sucks. And the reason it matters is because they need to be .500 to make the playoffs and a result against Barnstable would go a long way in making that a possibility. With only 1 league game it means they play tougher none league games to get results.

They play tougher non-LEAGUE games because they lost the Plymouths and unlike a lot of schools chose to schedule real teams instead of soft teams. Thanks for the correction on the whole LEAGUE VS CONFERENCE thing--huge deal----
The Rams are 5-4-3 heading into tonight's game v Barnstable. Other remaining games are nauset, duxbury, b-r, Weymouth and silver lake. Among those, only b-r can be counted as a win. Not far-fetched to see them qualify at 6-6-6.

PT will get them into the states and then upset a couple teams. He is a great coach and he is making good things happen with limited players.
They were not great with him they are really poor now. High school coaching issues or youth coaching or both? Difficult to coach in a non-soccer town that always is poor.
I'm not PT - just know that he is a great coach and doing a good job.
There are a few great coaches working in the South. Some of these schools are very lucky.
Canton, KP, Needham, Walpole, Weymouth, New Bedford, Stoughton, Attleboro, GNBV, Nauset, Barnstable, Darthmouth and MANY more!
Some of these teams do well simply based on the coach and his ability to connect with the kids or coaching knowledge. Others benefit from SUPERB talent.

Why can't someone be positive on this thread?
Marshfield 3 --Barnstable 3---Marshfield scores twice in final 12 minutes--good result against a solid team
