But understand it's a lot easier to learn it right the first time than it is to unlearn it and than relearn. For many kids, it can never be unlearned. That's a fact of science, not opinion.
Practice makes perfect, or so they say, but the reality is perfect practice is really what makes perfect.
When you say practice makes perfect you have to be referring to technical skills. By the time a player gets to high school they should know exactly how to perform all of the technical skills they need to play the game and have moved on to tactical training. At that point the work they should be putting in on those skills should be all about increasing the efficiency of the movements and that is 95% mental. You don't need a coach looking over your shoulder to tighten up turning with your left foot.
As far as developing a player's tactical understanding and increasing their speed of play goes, you have to actually play soccer to develop that side of the equation. The player needs to be able to read the field and react to game situations in real time. You don't want a coach sitting on their shoulders telling them what to do every step they take because that defeats their development and makes them play like little robots who have no creativity.
