Maybe you are that BTFT loon ranting about girls soccer? Could care less which is also what all but about 100 students who attend matches at you kids Div 1 school think.
Again shows how little the fringe D3 crowd know about D1. They might want to go watch a BC game some time and use that fancy education they presumably got to count the crowd. Here they are talking about how close D3 soccer is to D1 soccer and its pretty obvious they haven't even seen a game otherwise they would know such things. Sorry but it is pretty clear that those Revs and Bolts players chose D3 because they had no other choice. No one really turns down scholarship money if they are offered it.

Soccer is comparable in high school boys participation levels to baseball and basketball. Lacrosse is 1/4 the size of soccer and hockey is barely a blip on the sporting landscape.

This thread was an obvious attempt to troll. Who cares if D3 doesn't get any respect on this site. Anyone who knows anything about collegiate sports knows that there are quality athletes in D3. There have been several players who played in the NFL who came from D3. Several Olympians from D3. Dennis Rodman just played D2 basketball. Several other NBA players played D3 (Scottie Pippen played at an NAIA school).

Same in men's college soccer - Europeans and kids from LA getting the roster spots. It's becoming more common on the women's side as well.

No, 1/3 scholarships per player is not comparable to full rides in basketball, football and baseball. In those sports it's easy to track the top tier players and almost invariably they end up at Div 1. Try dining that in MA soccer, impossible because way to many head scratchers precisely because the financial support, playing time, proximity, educational factors often trump the pathetic "prestige" of being a bench warmer at some distant D1 Knucklehead U. Not an opinion but an objective fact.

If misery at KU had some long term payback for the next level it might be worth it but aside for the 1 percent, the next level is adult tec league. The subjective "respect" of loser D1 here is amusing but irrelevant. Of course KU was the right choice for their kid! It's in the genes.

OP said 50% which is more in line with "average." Doesn't take away their original point that on the men's side scholarship dollars are paltry. For most D1 caliber with good grades D3s often offer far more off the sticker price than D1 athletic money (true with women as well. Grades=$$$). It's only the true D1 stud that will get anything decent on the men's side. That's where it becomes a tougher choice between a D1 experience (with it's bigger commitment, risks of losing athletic money after a year) vs D3 (more manageable experience, merit $ for four years). Then add the most important piece - academics - and the choice becomes crystal clear for many. Some decent D1 soccer programs have mediocre academics.

Too much talk for no reason. No respect for D3 because the players are not good enough to get respect in the soccer community. Stop trying to be all intellectual and academic.

People respect athletes because they sink baskets, throw touchdowns, hit above .300 and they play in the best league and competition.D3 is the lowest level in college.

Asking the impossible of BTFT. Impressive "community" if that nut is a member.

This monumental post has sent shock waves through the D3 community. All former and current D3 players are properly humiliated. Well done.

What part of soccer being a fringe men's sport don't you get. No one really cares about men's soccer. That's who is not getting the respect. It's the gender, not a category of college. The rest of the world basically laughs at our men soccer players because compared to the rest of the world they suck. The fact that some of the mom's and dad's of this community seem to think that their soccer playing sons landing on the bottom level of college sports somehow makes them more special than the rest of the scholarship level athletes actually speaks to the amount of delusion on this site. The fact that they clearly don't have the first clue about the amount of money available for players that have what a D1 college coach is looking for just reinforces how far removed they were from it even being an option. There is a very simple equation behind all this, if your kid is really, really good, there is scholarship money available for them. If they are not, there won't be. The politics of scarcity don't somehow translate into players being better soccer players than they are. That is nothing but some warped rationalization from the "everyone gets a trophy" crowd.

Not everyone but boys from Tufts and Amherst certainly did. You sound very angry. Maybe because nobody at her U even cares enough to watch your Mia play? To be clear, she got scholarship money to ballance the loot for men's football not because she has any talent.

Home run post. Nailed it. One add. This elite D3 argument in both soccer and academics speaks to a parental need to have Jr be better than his peers. It is all based on competition. My kid goes to a better school and plays soccer as well as the D1 players. This works great with the ignorant majority. The problem arises when someone actually knows the deal and can ask a few questions. Then the tap dancing starts. The need for affirmation is really sad.

Yup that is the point. All of the mens funding go to real sports. You don't see football or basketball getting funding restrictions do you? Maybe lil Landon could pull a Caitlyn Jenner and get some money to play.

P.S. The elite academics argument kind of comes up hollow when the Ivies are in your literal backyard. But keep spinning the tale. The more you tell it the more you believe it.
