International players are limited per NCAA
You can't have a full team of international players in college soccer. There are rules in place to prevent that from happening!! I think for d1 only 4 players max on scholarship.
By a 30-21 margin, the National Junior College Athletic Association's board of directors voted in late March to hold the number of non-U.S. players at no more than one-fourth of a team's allotment of scholarship players. In basketball and volleyball, for instance, that would be three. In soccer, four. In track, five.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostHaving a max number of scholarships is very different than any restrictions on the NUMBER OF PLAYERS. Many D1 teams have far, far more than four. It's growing fast at D2 and D3 and on the women's side as well. Not every international player needs athletic dollars to attend - they can still get merit money (no financial aid though), some come from countries that will help pay for school with the promise to return, others just have wealthy parents who want their kids to get a US education.

A lot of them are used to being paid to pay soccer in their home countries, so the US system is a big change.
