i forgot which southern tournament it was, but i believe they got sued and had to answer for it. Manhattan refunded all tournament money when it was cancelled. GPS is a terrible organization, hopefully the 300 teams screwed with remember that

Well.....this is where the legal part of each club should, in fact, be more involved...but before you sign the contract. If the contract read just what you got and you signed it they buyer beware and think twice before next years tournament.
Sponsoring bodies can take out insurance to help refund clubs for cancelled tournaments. This is best for all as it at least makes whole the cancelled teams and makes the sponsoring body look better by refunding 100% (or close to it).
Otherwise, if the contract read 'x' then that is what you get. By the way, too bad for clubs entering tournaments in late November in New England.
