South Shore Select...why does everyone leave

I don't understand, LL is a solid coach but the turnover at SSS is crazy, especially around U12-U14. What's the problem?

Pretty well covered over the years here. SSS does a great job of training 5-12 year olds. Lots of opportunities to train during the week, at their own facility, and trained correctly long before all focused on ball skills. It's when players get to the 13 or 14s, when it needs to go to a bit more tactical. They have never had anyone who could organize and train/direct the older teams properly, and then coupled with bad decisions in the movement of players, the parents and players get frustrated and leave. Doesn't help that Scorps are in the next town. Scorps have recruited SSS kids for almost 15 yrs now. It's a great club for U12 or 13. They will learn ball skills and passing skills better than most. They either can't or do not want to get into the tactical side. Plus the top isn't working a plan, they are flying by the seat of there pants most of the time. They won't go anywhere, and if they ever get that piece together they would be dangerous.

Galway has similar issues--best players leave after U12/13

Galway lose players because most of their teams are really bad. They have just lost their most popular coach who has had enough of selling burgers for them.

Bad marketing/philosophy and really bad leadership

They get hundreds of 4 and 5 year olds and sell them on the ideas of having a strong female coach and a family atmosphere. But the problem is that no one really teaches them the game. The players are good because they literally start with hundreds and get to choose the best, and they grow up together.

Once the players spend a couple of years in the real world, they see what real coaches do, what real coaches are, how they teach. The players experience ODP, they experience clinics with other programs.

The lure of family togetherness and strong female leadership and the pleas of the director are taken over by players growing up and needing actual good coaching.

LL is not a good leader. No one wants to work for her. She can't attract anyone and has burned a lot of bridges. She's also greedy and wants to keep all the money.

But worst, she complains and instead of selling her program, she complains to all of her membership that they are better off there, not because the program's better, but because they are a "family" and they should be loyal. She belittles other programs, she's nasty to people who leave, and people just get sick of it.

Most people don't shop around at those young ages, they go where their friends go. So they have no idea what's out there until the teams start competing.

Until LL either grows up, or finds some coaches willing to work with her players that she is actually willing to let work and take players to the levels she can't take them, she is doomed to lose all of her better players. She also needs to stop with all the wo is me antics and stop kicking people who leave or who show any amount of unhappiness.

I'm not really sure that she cares. Her motivation is money only.

She has done well with the academy & her teams. Pulling in hundreds of academy kids is where the money is & it's easy daycare. There really is no need to bash. She isn't a bad person and is a good role model but her focus seems to be 100% on "her academy teams" alone. The better players seem to at some point seek a new change, a different coach, opportunity to learn other positions and tactics etc, etc. Players realize for their personal growth a healthy change can be good especially if burnt out or peaked too soon.

When does his new club get announced?

The new BB, maybe he will have to flip burgers if he can't coach anymore.

How long before we find out which club the U have partnered with?

There are worse business plans than training the little ones.
There are professional clubs whose existence and profit is based upon the training model.
