Some of the clubs' travel schedules are ridiculous. Traveling to Sweden can be a lot of fun, but there are plenty of teams in the US that can whip any Oregon team.
Very true. For the money this team spent on Sweden and North Carolina they could have had four tournaments in California and two in Washington. All with better or equal competition.

You could make the case for encl and da scams.

Most of the team the teams they are playing are terrible or way to good.

Just ask the kids on the Ecnl teams who can’t even get into a naia school but spent 9k a year

We are all being scammed. Club directors are making 6 figure salaries and paying their buddies tens of thousands of dollars to coach recreational soccer teams and taking them on trips so the coach can travel for free.

If someone is coaching full-time, I would expect they should make "tens of thousands of dollars". Minimum wage in the Portland metro area is $12.50 per hour, which works out to $25k a year if you work full time. If the coach is putting in five hours a week, that would be a different story, but many coaches around here are at least putting in 20 hours a week (in addition to regular jobs). If a coach spends 1000 hours a year coaching soccer, how much money do you suppose they should make?
