The Revs are trying to develop future pro players. That is not the same goal as trying to set up a pathway to a high quality college education. Not that the education goal isn't important but anyone who is going to the Revs hoping to get themselves into college rather than on a pro team is basically intentionally short changing themselves. They are not focusing on the same goal as the Revs which means that they are in the wrong program. There are plenty of clubs and high schools that will do a much better job of meeting the educational goal than the Revs so if that is the goal they should be with one of them instead.

And why do they allow players with waivers? A few players who go to private schools are clearly more focused on academics and are using Revs as an additional push to get into good colleges.

You do that only if you see your kid as a potential pro.
why would you join the Revs unless you are pretty sure your son has at least shot of going pro some place?
why would you join the Revs and then seek a waiver when you know that cuts out roughly 30% of the program?

The Revs don't do much for kids looking at schools. That isn't their focus. Don't know about the Bolts but they have at least one very obvious college connection
Signed - someone who has been there and done that but isn't you-know-who

Several times in the national team etc etc. Is he going pro, and that's why he went to play soccer to Harvard?
Please, most of the kids in the academy use the system to get some advantage for college admission. Yes, they love the game and will continue playing while in college, but not thinking about soccer as their top priority. And while there is nothing wrong with that, I thought the academy program was designed to focus seriously on a different goal. Waivers should not be allowed at this point. Some who still get them (both in Revs and Bolts) are not outstanding players in most cases. So why?
