Brookline was only average offensively last year. Lacking more than that?

Not sure about that supposed Wellesley coaching change. If so, who is the new coach?

Just reading the e.mass thread makes you wonder if the BSC is going to be significantly lower-scoring in 2014. Many of the big/Carey teams were not that prolific last year, and Needham, Braintree, Brookline, Framingham and Newton north all had significant attacking threats graduate. Natick and Wellesley were prolific among the small/Herget schools, but several of their scoring threats graduated as well. Will any teams manage even 2.5 goals/game in league play (several teams' scoring was bolstered by their non-league schedule)?

Needham has not lost any big scoring threats......and they have kept all those that could not score

All those schools have a strong soccer history and good youth programs. Rising juniors and seniors will fill the holes

Wow!!!! This was really insightful. Did you cut and paste this from any and every other thread discussing the teams and competition of any and every league for 'the next season'??

              Wellesley

Have no fears. The Wellesley MPS coach is indeed returning. The team will be good. Not as strong as last year but will certainly compete.

By that logic, all would have been big-scoring teams last year, but they were not. A couple of good Natick players graduated, but many may be returning, so they could be the best attacking team. Framingham is another that may have more goal-scores returning.

Wellesley will have some good players, but will they have enough of them, enough depth to withstand injuries and all?

Check out schedules on hssports. Looks like Dedham opted out of Framingham and Needham, and scheduled home and away w foxboro and Weston. That gives them 4 games in their size division for tourney qualifying purposes, all non-league.

That is the right move. They get 4 points in those four games, assuming they are the only D3 games they have, and they are in the state tourney.. Sullivan Rule

                        Last year:
                        Braintree 29 goals in 17 games v league opponents = 1.7/game
                        Brookline 25/16=1.6
                        Framingham 30/15=2.0
                        Needham 31/15=2.1
                        Newton North 17/16=1.1
                        Weymouth 20/15=1.3

Dedham 12/10 (some results not reported)=1.2
                        Milton 17/14=1.2
                        Natick 56/17=3.3
Norwood 11/12 (some results not reported)=0.9
                        Walpole 35/16=2.2
                        Wellesley 51/17=3.0

Globe's 2012 averages vs all opponents, added below, might make an interesting comparison, even though not quite apples to apples. Some teams' production changed as much as a goal per game.

Framingham 30/15=2.0, also an increase of 6
                          Needham 31/15=2.1, decrease of 12
Newton North 17/16=1.1, increase of 8
                          Weymouth 20/15=1.3, decrease of 10

Dedham 12/10 (some results not reported)=1.2, increase of 5
Milton 17/14=1.2, same as year before
                          Natick 56/17=3.3, increase of 19
Norwood 11/12 (some results not reported)=0.9, increase of 1

Didn't the coaches vote Needham's midfielder as the best player in Carey division?

Do you believe the coaches or the boy's father?
