Who are the best high school or college soccer players?

Is it the kids who are small when they are young, and learn to use their foot skills to get around the bigger kids who have the advantage in the early years?

Is it the kids who develop late, for the same reason?

Is it the kids with the best coaching training?

Is it the kids who specialize early? Is it the multi-sport athletes?

Is it the kids whose parents played soccer?

Is it the kids whose mom or dad kicked a ball around with them when they were young so they started off with some ability and confidence?

Is it whoever decides to work hardest once they reach a certain age?

Is it different for every success story?

For those who have seen kids for from u8s to u14s to high school and maybe even college players. What do you think the most important variables are?

Poor kids succeed. Rich kids take shortcuts.

Pure athleticism or kids with parents that played soccer at a high level?

            Really?

I know plenty of privileged kids that excel and plenty of poor kids that don't (and vice versa). I certainly think there's something to being "hungry" to help drive someone to succeed, but have you really seen more poor kids turn into better soccer players? It seems like with the club soccer system it's been the opposite historically, but I know it's a big push from US Soccer to break down the cost barrier.

Said the rich dad that doesn't understand the distinct advantage that money provides.

Hard to believe this isn't just another troll thread. What are the ingredients for success in anything?

Athleticism, skill and high-skill potential, work ethic/desire, training/coaching/access, athletic IQ/vision/anticipation, etc

One has to accept that after all of these years in existence this forum has discussed just about every topic there is to discuss about youth soccer. If the trolls want to continue to drown out every thread they don't like because they have discussed it before and know the arguments then there will never be any discussion on this site. Their intolerance is one reason this site has become so toxic.

Says the rich dad who doesn't understand that simply pointing out the advantages does not equate to asking for a handout.

But don't believe for a second that the money spent on private training, or club fees for a Elite club are not barriers.

So, you started THIS thread and the one about how are the 2015s doing. Have you contributed even a little bit to any toxicity, or are you golden?

Except you are barking up the wrong tree mate. Didn't start either thread. Just commenting on them. That's what one does in a forum, no?

You need to do a little beta-testing of your British version before you take it LIVE.
