Hoping that all the teams improved and enjoy their first state cups next Spring. Hopefully the top 4 or 5 teams play each other more often, locally!!!

There are fields, set up some preseason friendlies!!

Two state cups, four leagues. Who benefits from this other than Exxon?

Why does Bruno and FC mass not have NPL teams. Unless some of the team made signifant upgrades, its a three team race and a lot of potention blow outs.

Yes it is and it is a Mass league. Let them run the state cup.

NEP teams aren't qualified to play in Mass State Cup because the players are not registered in USY soccer..... So they started their own.

the USYS (Maple) team can play in the USCS (NEP) state cups. I agree that i would be nice if there was only 1 state cup, but that no longer exist.

Not sure it matters. Only three teams in this MA age group. USCS "regionals" for u13 were a joke, while USYS u13 'nationals' only had four teams.

are you suggesting the competition was a joke?

Not really true. The USCS cup had real competition, locally, regionally and nationally throughout the age levels. In Mass, it was a far better and deeper competition than the USYS state cup--just looking at the brackets shows you that. And at the BU13 level, the USCS Mass cup included the top team from MAPLE. If the MAPLE teams join it this year, it would be another good competition.

Regionally USCS had real competition? Only if you are impressed with GPS winning matches 14-0. USCS "nationals" were also a sad joke because the USCS doesn't have the pull nationally that it does in a few states in the northeast.

Based on the archives, it looks like the scores in the semis and finals of the USCS cup were very competitive (3-1 and 1-0 in the Mass semis). Did last years GPS U13 team wipe out some lower level teams along the way? That's probably likely, as it appears that they defeated a lot of teams handily last year. But that happens in any state cup competition. And one very dominant team in one age group does not mean that the overall field is weak. And, according to GS, the USCS "nationals" included teams from all over--including a team had just recently won the highest level of the EDP Cup against all the top EDP teams--not sure how that competition would be a "sad joke."

Regardless, any reasonable person looking at the teams and clubs entered in last year's USCS Cup vs the USYS Cup in Mass would see that it wasn't really close in terms of the level of competition. Since the USCS cup is open to all, wouldn't it be best if the teams all just played in that one cup? That would be the best way to determine a single state champion. For this age group, it could include NEFC, WUP, Valeo and any other Mass team that thinks it could compete. That would likely be a pretty solid competition--close to what USYS used to provide.

Sure, real competitive regional. 27-2 in three games before losing in the final.

Looks like there was one overmatched team (Iverness?) that was buried by everyone. That happens everywhere and leads to silly GD stats. According to this link, the other GPS matches included one against a team (Bayern) that had won the NJ Cup and finished in 2nd place in the top division of EDP--and another team (PA Rush) that had won the PA Cup. The fact that GPS apparently beat Bayern 6-1 does not mean the field was weak--just that this GPS team appears to have been a lot better. The fact that GPS lost in the finals alone suggests that the competition was legit and better than the state finals. It does look like the brackets may not have been well balanced--but that always happens in these regional tourneys where there is little basis for comparison.

More importantly for this thread--hopefully all of the good MA U13 teams play in USCS Cup this year. USYS excludes too many teams to be legit.
