    Pros:
    - they got a large mass of players in the spring mergers.
    - they have ecnl and dap
    Cons:
    - BBA forms partnership with Aztecs (and applies for ecnl)

      FC Boston girls team families,

Two plus years ago Scorpions SC entered into a partnership with BES (Boston Breakers pro team). When Scorpions merged with FC Greater Boston Bolts in June of last year that partnership was adopted by the new club, FC Boston.

In September, BES announced that their head coach would be resigning and he would be reassigned to creating their own youth soccer club which will directly compete with FC Boston and would field teams under the 'Boston Breakers Academy' brand. BES has told FC Boston that they could have Boston Breakers Academy teams of their own as early as this coming spring.

That BES announcement signaled the reality that FC Boston and BES have different short and long term strategic interests. BES forming its own youth club is something FC Boston somewhat anticipated, but the timing is earlier than expected and creates a conflict of interest for them and thereby diminished the value of the partnership for FC Boston. In addition, the BES plan to use the same 'Boston Breakers Academy' name that the FC Boston girls teams are using is obviously untenable. I

FC Boston and the Breakers have agreed to terminate our partnership together. Our Board and coaching staff are excited about the fact that we can concentrate on and accelerate the development of our own club and the FC Boston brand. I am personally excited and eager to be able to focus on just FC Boston.

What does this mean for our players and their families? Not that much will change, although three teams will have to change coaches.

*The teams will all remain intact and be known as 'FC Boston', no longer ' FC Boston Breakers Academy'. It is possible that we will resurrect the original 'Scorpions' name for girls teams. That is still being discussed.

*We will participate in all the same leagues and tournaments.

      * We will save some money.

      * We will not see Breakers players at training any longer.

      * We plan to collect each teams shirts and have 'FC Boston' (see attachment, I think you will enjoy!) patches professionally sewn over the current BBA patches, then return them. That may/may not be feasible for the warmup tops, we will get back to you on that. At the end of this 2015-16 year all FC Boston boys and girls will begin a new 2 year cycle of Nike gear.

      * BES has withdrawn two of their coaches, Seve Hirst and Jack Abelson. That will be addressed by FC Boston assigning top level coaches to those teams.

U15 NPL Was Seve Hirst, will now be full time FC Boston staff member Nick Rugnetta.
U16 ECNL Was Jack Abelson, will now be full time FC Boston staff member Mo Keita.
U17 ECNL Was Jack Abelson, will now be McKenzie Arment (4 year Penn state team member, current Eastern Nazarene women's head coach).

In addition BES has asked that we release FT staff member Dushawne Simpson (Breakers pro team Asst. coach) so that he can work for BES, his other employer. Dushawne prefers to remain with BES so we will respect that. Rising star in the soccer community Whitney Rogers (Bentley/Brandeis) will replace Dushawne in the North Region. Dushawne will be staying with FC Boston as a team coach through the end of this year.

Depending on the feedback and the number of questions we will arrange an informational event and/or team meetings to answer questions.

I will be emailing the 15 NPL, 16 ECNL and 17 ECNL teams separately with some additional information about their teams coaching situations which are briefly addresses above.

FC Boston now has 140 combined boys and girls teams with @ 2,000 total players. We are one of the largest elite clubs in New England and the only New England club to have access to both US Soccer Development Academy for boys and ECNL membership for girls. Our NPL access is also valuable for the players on those teams and access to the regionally prestigious NEP as well. We have a great staff and are back to normal organizationally after some very significant and time consuming club changes earlier this year. The FC Boston staff and Board of Directors are excited and eager for the focus and our time and energy to be entirely on the FC Boston players, teams and families.

      Fred Marks
      FC Boston Girls Director
Sounds like two completely dysfunctional organizations.
      1. Why didn't BBA simply use the Scorpions infrastructure to develop its own academy? With an ECNL badge, it would have grown quickly
      2. Boston Breakers seems to be a joke of a club. No place to play. Consistently finishes in last place and changes coaches.
      3. If Fred knew this wasn't a long term deal, why the hell did he do it?

      Good grief!

Reason.. one name Fred Marks. Rumor has it the Bolts merger is already coming apart. When that deal started he told everyone that he wanted a way to cash out but then true to form at the end tried to strong arm his way into control. The guy is a menace. The fact that the Breakers couldn't run away from him fast enough given how strapped for cash their are shows just how screwed up anything the man touches becomes. For those that don't know the whole deal between the Scorpions and Breakers was Fred would pay the Breakers $100K a year for the right to call his club Breakers. It was strictly a marketing ploy. The fact that he couldn't even make that work speaks for itself.

          Good intel.
While I agree FM is much to blame, Breakers are not without fault themselves. Why the hell did they accept those terms in the first place? If they wanted to start their own youth program, they should have stepped up and bought him out. It would have benefitted both clubs.

Now Fred has a mess of a club and the Breakers are starting a youth academy from scratch. If their pro organization is any indicator, it won't go well.

            http://www.bostonbreakerssoccer.com/...s/index_E.html

Albeit pretty inconsequential in the big picture the partnership with youth organizations has been in place for 4-5 years.

Seems like those poor kids on the north shore will have yet another uniform in the closet by next june. Stars North > Aztecs > BBA > FC Boston (patches over BBA logos) > BBA (a pair of scissors will be provided to take off the patch with each new contract)...

Breakers did try and buy out FM. It was a substantial offer but FM still wanted to control the club even with Breakers owning it, Breakers did not want him involved at all. FM then merged with FC Bolts which upset the Breakers partnership.

Good move for Breakers to get as far away from FM as possible and not let him completely destroy their name like he has done with his club.

As though Breakers is such a great organization with a great pro team. All the trash talk might be right, but what exactly will Breakers do for academy players? It can't support its first priority.

Thank you for sharing Fred. One might suggest that once away from a slime ball like you that they can't much worse than what you have been putting out

                      BBA will be fine.

FM is irrelevant, has been for a while.

That really doesn't make any sense, but it takes a shot at FM, so I'm ok with it.

Gotta ask. The line in the message that says "we,ll save money", will that savings be passed onto the parents?

No spin doctor here but saying something like "we feel the return on the parnership was less than expected and we feel we may achieve more by reinvesting on our own etc..."

But as slips go it reads as "we are looking short term here and want to put more money in the principal investor's pocket" Everything that was done since the merger does that. More players = more profit, less expenses = more profit.

The bennefit at each level ECNL/DAP > NPL > NEP remains to be seen in terms of sucess on the field across the leader boards and if they can retain their new North Shore operation past tryouts with Stars East and BBA spinning their own web. All interesting stuff.
