NEFC yes. SSS and OW no way. You lost all credibility there. That's why clubs like NEFC or Top Hat want out of GAL and will go if ECNL will take them (there's some politics there but in the end I think it will happen). As for national players they were pressured to go to GDA and now GAL won't provide them with the quality competition they need (or training in the case of many of the GAL clubs). Out of necessity NT will call ups will start emerging from ECNL again. Again, another reason to leave GAL. Finally, taking on too many teams is the last thing you want if you're trying to improve league quality. There are very few teams to pick off that aren't already in either ECNL or GAL. Taking on more subpar teams just waters it down even more, causing the better teams to leave....it's a vicious cycle

I will only speak specifically for my daughter's team, but they have a much harder time with Oakwood and SSS. NEFC they've always matched up pretty well (split every year over the last several years). While they have gotten results from OW and SSS, it's much harder and less often.

I never really understood the wood people get for NEFC.

Yup those clubs will jump in a heartbeat, when that happens what will it tell you about GAL? Not exactly a league that it’s own top clubs believe in.....nuff said.

GAL should figure out a club vs club structure but in every age group and conference, leave open the opportunity for a real standout team to take part and for poor performers to be pushed to EDP. This way you reduce the negative impact of really awful teams like oakwood 07s.

Clubs bailed out of GDA year 1 and it's been a continuous slide downward since then.

Quite a downtrend and the league is still in its infancy

Little bit of a stretch to say NEFC, SSS & Oakwood "can all compete with top teams in country". Not even sure they can compete with the top teams in the NE outside of GAL.

They can't. They were NPL before and not even top NPL teams much of the time. NEFC is much stronger

NPL was a much better league then than it is now. That was a clear #2 league whereas NPL today is like 4th or 5th best.

NEFC was strong because they had one year in ECNL before jumping to DA and absorbing Boston Breakers.

Agreed, if you look at the lower level GAL teams/clubs they cannot even compete with EDP teams....so unfortunately the depth of the league is not great.

Well NEFC should have stayed in ECNL they got greedy and are now paying the price by being in a league that is far below ECNL.

They aren’t the only ones. Tophat is the big one and ECNL asked them to come back last January and they said no, so ECNL let another Atlanta team in instead.

ECNL wanted to make NEFC, Top Hat a few others sweat another year but will probably let them in this year. Top Hat parents got desperate enough to start a petition lol. GAL clubs will continue to lose their top players to ECNL. They'll do what it takes to get admitted, even if they have to grovel a bit.

FC Virginia is one begging to get out as well...GAL will continue losing not only top clubs but top players too. The level of quality competition has already dropped off dramatically since DA failure too many lopsided scores in the haves vs have nots GaL matchups. Honestly do not get the point of even having a secondary league like GAL when USYS was already well established.
