    What if GDA Disbanded?

Hypothetically speaking, if GDA disbanded or the clubs decided to walk away, what would happen?

Would ECNL open it up for more clubs? Past experiences indicate otherwise.

Would DA players then move to a club that offered ECNL? Would Stars put in a third team? Would some of the these ECNL players need to move to NPL? Would some DA players need to move to NPL?

Seems to me, at this point and until ECNL Mafia allows more teams, some should be glad DA is here because you could be the player or parent on a Stars B team who could be out of luck.

Stop with your nonsense conspiracy theories. Your favorite club has burned way too many bridges to get into the ECNL, and you know it.

I'm sure the NEFC kids would look great in Scorpions uniforms....

Be that as it may...answer the question: What if?

        Your kids spot in jeopardy?

Then we just need to also dispense with ECNL ans things can finally be better.

Oh no! You would be stuck on the lowly Stars ECNL West team! The shame! Think of how lucky you are that you have the Breakers DA patch to save you from the stigma!!

What an absolute joke of a post this is. I really hope this is a troll and not the thought process of an actual human.

Everyone's obsession with "A&B" at Stars is insane. There are over 85 teams vying for a spot in the Champions league and ultimately ECNL Final 4. Four teams will make it, 80+ will not. Do you know how many teams in the entire Northeast US made it to the National Final 4 in Richmond last year? 1. In all age groups ONE team made it. Point being every year, many, MANY teams will be disappointed with their final standing. That's how it works. It's math. In the Northeast Conference alone there are 15 teams competing. Regardless of the crest on your jersey everyone has the same goals to compete and win. BUT nobody is guaranteed anything. You are not 1 of 2 teams. You are not A&B. You are one of 15 teams in your age group. Stars happens to have 2 teams (as does PDA). And those teams should all be relatively competitive within the conference depending on the age group.

But if you are legitimately concerned about your placement (or somebody else's) because of some perceived entitlement to "winning" or being on the "best" team you really should have your head examined. Go compete and prove your worth on the pitch. You have the same opportunity to achieve as anyone else. If you can't beat the teams in front of you...oh well. Get better.

Would look great? A lot of the older NEFC girls moved over to Scorpions to play ECNL and high school. As a result, there are many watered down DA teams with 2nd and 3rd team players playing on them. Not good!

If you are on a Stars B team then you are probably not good enough to play DA so this is an odd comment. Stars has ZERO motivation to keep great players on B teams, that would be stupid for them to do. In fact what team or coach would say, hmm, here's a great player, let's put them on a B team so they won't really help our club? Nope, they are motivated to win. That's it.

                  Oooohhh...touched a nerve there.

You didn't really answer the question with that rant. By disbanding GDA, that puts 60-ish players into the player pool that aren't terrible. Open to debate and personal opinions/agendas as to how to grade out those players, but they aren't trash. Some won't travel to an ECNL club (or they would've already in some cases), but expect some will. Call it half, so that's 30 players in a pool to compete for (using the Stars example) 40-60 spots. Say 25% of them (made up number) would be bumped from an ECNL team, no?

Interesting hypothetical. I think it would be GREAT!!
The ONE team per DA age group would be easily absorbed by 6 local options (3 ECNL, 3 NP). Everyone wins

Spoken like a parent who has been drinking the "NEFC/DA is the best and every other club is awful" kool-aid that is constantly pushed on parents. Especially when kids leave the club...

Theoretically, some of those ECNL move to NPL. So, next practice, look at your team. Look at your kid. 25% (maybe??) wouldn't be there after the merger. Or, maybe Stars moves to one team and the entire B-teamers (Sorry, WEST) looking for a new club.

Agree that increased competition should be all of our goals. Sometimes, one should be careful what you wish for. Our college goalie stunk, but always commented how we needed to get better defensively. Coach agreed. Brought in a freshman next year and cut the goalie.

                          Whelp...
