Some won't kick off good players out of desperation (good as in good for a HS player; never seen these kids play but they have to be solid to be in ECNL). And with HS it's a greater risk of parents suing or at least trying to rope in the administration.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostIt was really unfortunate. Kids were given an ultimatum. My way or the highway. They took the highway. After that their were some meetings at the school and a few days later the coach resigned. Not going to speculate what happened behind closed doors. Just a bad situation for the kids, the coach and the program.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostI think it was probably both. Coach had been there for 20+ years. Old school guy and that rubbed people the wrong way. People don’t tolerate the old school way any more. Parents also made a lot of noise and pressured the school. The school administration is weak and they caved. Just very unfortunate for everyone it Went down like this. Coach walks away bitter, boys end up with egg on their face, and the team (especially seniors) have to deal with the drama and distraction. They all survived but it did not have to go down like this.

Unlike the girls side, FSA dominates ECNL boys in the area. CFC has never been a boys club. The state's top boys are in 2 DA clubs or NY clubs (that is not true with girls ECNL) so then there's even fewer boys' talent to attract. Also, a few other boys clubs like AC CT, Revolution, EA offer decent training and competition without the big ticket travel ECNL has. The state would be better off with just one boys club but that will never happen.

The boys program will start to flourish in the up coming years, The COE winter program is run there which is already gaining intrest from parents. the facility will attract folks.
