A kid that could never afford a club team can still play if they are in the district and make the team. It is not exactly world cup soccer but it the only option available and affordable and it beats sitting around staring at a phone or screen hands down.

There are only roughly 1900 applicants admitted to Harvard a year but yet there are kids that know that they have what it takes to get in there as well as any of the other top schools. Whether it’s soccer or admissions there are huge cottage industries now pretending to be difference makers with fringe participants. In both cases the trick is knowing how good your kid is, not how good the tutoring is.

That’s just a myth. There are always bubble kids. Some get in some don’t. There are always reasons why those that get selected get selected. The bottom line though is there really all that much of a difference riding the pine at some D1 program or being somewhere in the pack of the class rank at Harvard?

You do you and protect your precious player from the ups and downs of HS soccer. He/she wouldn't be elected captain anyway or probably get many accolades.
