Big Mistake
If the USSF awards FC Florida DA status, it would confirm the concern many have that the non-MLS DA programs will eventually become the new money grabbing travel soccer...the difference will be that instead of taking families for $1500-3k a year, parents will be shelling out $8-12k+and year.

Players in Florida basically develop themselves with the help of their parents which is why we fall for all sorts of scams so easily. And yes, Colleges ARE the bigger crooks but at least at the end, our children will hopefully have a degree that will start them on a career path. How many players currently at these DA's do you think are going to play professional soccer and be able to make a living from it? Less than 1% will make it and only as far as a US MLS team. A couple will go on further and play in a abroad but that is the exception rather than the rule. College men's soccer scholarships? Yes, a few will get some lunch money and there is always the one kid that gets a full ride but for most, there will be nothing. Most of these kids do not have the HS grades necessary to play college soccer to begin with. Soccer in this country is simply not that important yet.

If 4-5 from each side girls and boys get a shot to try and play on USMNT or USWNT then FC Florida has done their job. You can't count someone out if they haven't had the chance to show what they can do.

BTW, check out the national pool when you get a chance. How is it possible that the same kids make the pool year after year? Some of these kids were good when they were 14 but now they are average at best yet they are still there. Why is that? Where is the new crop of players that should be replacing them as any true national pool would?
