Got Soccer really only rewards tournament points to teams that play in qualifying tournaments. Take for instance, FL RUSH U12 were, and still are #1, even after losing to TCU at MSA at Naples and not making it to the final of a small tournament. In any ranking system, if you are beat by someone lower than you, your team should move down. Right? No because the Naples tournament doesn't report its scores to Got Soccer. So the lost isn't factored in to FL RUSH's ranking. But in the Got Soccer points system, they have so many points accumulated that they remain #1. Doesn't seem fair, does it? Youth Soccer Rankings seems to be more accurate in determining who the top teams are. Of course, no ranking system is perfect.

This whole Gotsoccer points/ranking system is ridiculously flawed. We should settle who are the best teams the old fashioned way . . . with a poll of coaches and media members!!!!
That should settle it once and for all.

So, for a team to move up they have to WIN and beat better teams. No ranking system is perfect, but gotsoccer rewards teams by wins - if you lose, you don't get any point. Teams will move up as they beat better teams - the losses won't affect as much a losing team, as it will benefit a winning team. Hope it makes sense.
Getting points for wins is fine. But getting 400+ points for first place by beating bad teams is ridiculous.
There are some 'B' teams who have more points and a higher ranking then the 'A' team.
As someone mentioned earlier, youthsoccerrankings.us is a lot better.

We avoid playing the top teams so it limits our chances to grab the top spot. Since we are a smaller club we really cannot compete with the big clubs so this is the strategy we use and it has really worked for us.
