If they played 10 games, one team might go 6-4, slight edge to Natick despite their loss. Good teams don't always play to their ability, great teams almost always do. Any team (e.g., Weymouth) can play above their usual level. Brookline beat Weymouth earlier in the year and may have taken them lightly. Much more plausible than "Weymouth is really good and just fell apart against Natick.

As a Natick parent I will try to give my opinion of the game. The first 15 minutes was pretty even other than a soft corner kick goal that I thought the Weymouth keeper could have handled. Weymouth played organized and did not chase the ball during this time and for some reason started chasing after 15. Maybe wanted to get a goal to tie but should have stuck to game plan of being patient. Also the centerback from Weymouth came up hurt after chasing down and stopping one of our forwards. Not sure if coach noticed but was holding her right leg for the rest of the game. Not sure what she injuried but considerable slower the next time we attacked due to getting beat for the second goal. She played the entire game and played well but was noticeably injured. The bigger issue for Weymouth was the offsides trapped they tried to play. Players stopping and raising their hand to signal offsides is never a good thing. It was not working either for several reason. The referee in the first half did not know the offsides rule and called several players off that were on and vice versa. The second half referee was much better. The other problem was Weymouth pulling and offsides trap. The two center back would step but the two outside backs did not which allowed us to get a lot of breakaways. HS players typiclally cannot play a high line and offside trap. They should have adjusted and dropped back to not allow us so much space in behind. Bottom line they got out coached and not prepared for our style of play. What I am worried about now is that we beat them 5-1 just like Needham 4-1 and Brookline 3-1 did but both rematches were much closer and even a loss. Weymouth will most likely make adjustments and will be a much better opponent if we see them in tournament. Soccer is a funny sport, sometimes you play great like we did today and sometimes things don't go your way like Weymouth. Weymouth has several dangerous players that can make a difference in games but we were able to shut them down. Tried to give an accurate account of the game. We were just a better team last night.

My recap of the game was Natick plays a possession style of soccer and as a result, teams tend to chase after the ball. Agree that the first 10 minutes were close, but Natick missed a couple of easy chances and eventually scored off a corner. Shortly after, Natick should have had a penalty and then scored a nice low cross which was finished. 4-0 at half time and the Natick coach emptied his bench. Second half, Natick missed 5 one on ones amog several other chances which were kicked right at the keeper. I honestly don't see the result changing, but it will certainly be competitive. I don't think Weymouth had one shot on goal aside from the penalty which was given away by one of the subs in the last 10 minutes. The score should have been a lot higher than 5-1 and one of the Weymouth parents said as much. Good luck to you guys in playoffs!

NO. TEAM RECORD PREVIOUS
1. Central Catholic 9-0 1
Belinda Carlisle’s lyrics ‘Ooh, baby, do you know what that’s worth? Ooh, heaven is a place on earth’ are ringing from the church spire for these young ladies. That said the Globe feels there is a big matchup between this squad and the Marblehead Magicians… It will be magic if the later can eek out 1 goal – prediction 4-0 Central.
2. Whitman-Hanson 9-0-1 2
Mini-Mias. So against #14 Scituate and #7 Mansfield this squad went 8 goals for and 4 against. They’ll have to be a bit stingier on the goals against if they want to best #1 Central Catholic who’s conceded just that number in 9 games.
3. D2/Hingham 7-0-1 3
10-0 against Pembroke, then 8-1 and 5-0 over Silver Lake and Hanover. Sounds a lot like their schedule is keyed in on proximity to shopping malls over soccer powers. ‘Hingham High’ as they said in the old west but let’s try traveling north and finding some real teams to play… That said the line does form to the rear, props girls.
4. Bishop Feehan 8-0 4
It’d be great to say this team is in stride but a 1-0 win against Westboro on Saturday is not convincing of progress. This is why this team is ranked 2nd behind those Catholic girls. Show us the money BF, show us the money.
5. Brookline 9-0-1 5
This team lives up to the ‘Over the Top’ lifestyle and ‘Send it!’ is the Brookline battle cry. You can bet therapists and pharmacies were just a speed dial away last Thursday when that nail biter finished with Brookline on top 1-0. The globe loves them so maybe we all can too.
6. Newton South 9-0-1 6
Already in the tourney this squad recently went 2-1 and 2-0 against AB and D2/CC respectively. Nothing concrete in those numbers but considering 2013? super power Newton North is 0-9 it seems south vacuumed up all the north players, is that legal MIAA? Or are you are too busy investigating W-H to care anyway.
