This just happened in our league, with a town requesting regionalization with another town not represented in our league currently and it was denied. An appeal went up to MA Youth Soccer and they sided with the league...

Might I add that another downside to the pro coach model (in addition to cost) is that it leads to dependency on paid staff. Better model from a long-term perspective might be to hire a "Director of Coaching" to lead training of parent coaches, etc.
Hard to eliminate the parent politics, but you can do some things to moderate them. One thing is to mandate coach rotation (term limits). Obviously the system used to pick the teams is crucial (and the lightning rod) with the parent politics).

Then there are all the league rules in place not allowing a team to have more than a certain % of players from outside of one town, or more than a few towns represented on each team. System is not set up for this to be successful.

No more dad's coaching their own sons and no added expense of pro coaches and only a little extra driving.
