Really? You think the British Breakers approach is working?

You don't think they need a star forward or big time WNT team player? (Sorry Engen isn't exactly the big name fans are looking for and they need a special player on offense. Go get the next Christen Press to improve the team and get fans excited.)

Draft more supporting player that have been at premier College programs, have received good coaching and proven they can contribute to a strong team with leaders.

Coaching...keep Cat Whitehill and the goalie coach but the rest of the coaching staff has accomplished what this year? Are they developing the younger kids? Have the best players from last year had good years? Is the team winning?

I don't think it's that hard. They have some good players.

Hang in there Breaker's fans...the NEFC players will be there in a few years and turn this around. Starting with the ECNL next year

The issue with the new coach is all he knows are the European players which is why he is bringing so many in. He just doesn't know any better which is why he will fail. The US still produces the best women's soccer players on the planet and he doesn't have the first clue who they are or more important, what makes them tick.

True. Recruit complete players that grew up rooting for the team and the wins will come.

As near as I can tell...

In the past year they have traded Alyssa Naeher, McCaffrey, the rights to Danielle Colaprico (NWSL rookie of the year last year) and Sophia Huerta (a finalist for rookie of the year) for....

Whitney Engen, a second round pick, another later pick and an international roster spot?

Maybe it's time to stop trading with Chicago?

Colaprico and Huerta were never in Boston and neither did Boston own their rights.

Naeher was for Engen + draft pick
International slot abled them to sign English Striker Natasha Dowie
McCaffrey was for four draft picks and an international slot.

Using home grown players won't help with anything. Need to get a few stars and then do a better job of training and coaching. And with a dozen teams in the league, how come we never have a top 10 player on our team.

National team players are controlled by US Soccer, sure they would want the top 10 players on the MLS women's teams or those players get to choose where they want to be.

No Preference for NT players, just any of the stars in the league, international even. We haven't had one on a long time.

There is just a big disconnect between what the Breakers have in the way of facilities and supports compared to with some of these top players are accustomed to from their college days. In terms of what a modern pro athlete typically has at their disposal the facilities at Harvard are mickey mouse and until the ownership starts treating this like a top level pro franchise instead of a minor league franchise they are never going to attract top level talent. What they need to do is invest in a parcel of land in Boston near where the Bruins and Celtics are building their facilities and build a true professional soccer complex that they can share with NEFC and have all of their youth teams help pay for.

The celts haven't landed a big name in years because nobody wants to come to Boston. We got the big 3 and look what happened. Players aren't coming to Boston and what you mention is a good start. People can blame coaching all you want but the best teams in this league have the best players.

They can only do that with money they can pull in. They are losing money right now. Charging extra in the ECNL player fee won't move the needle much. Having the lower tier NEFC teams subsidize any Breakers initiative would be foolish. Its a pipe dream to think they will invest mega millions into a training complex in the heart of Boston, when they can't even sell out that JV field near Harvard. Get some stars and the fans will come. As it is right now, folks mainly go to the games to see the other team's stars.

The problem is and always will be the level of investment, and I'm not sure its partner will go for investment in a professional team that is struggling financially.

NEFC is the answer, LOL?! Of course, of course. Wonder who would suggest something so preposterous. Maybe NEFC is also the answer to almost zero interest in women's professional soccer nationally and for my inability to find a game on any of my 900 cable channels.
