Each of the past 4 years Weymouth has beaten the likes of Easton, Brockton, Braintree, and others to either Reach states or the State finals. That 2013 group is this years freshmen and sophomore class. Will these classes impact this years varsity team... possibly but over the next few years weymouth will be on the rise and it starts with this season being a big improvement
Good training for losing even bigger games!

Well what does that say to the likes of Brockton, Braintree, and OA over the next few years then?

Easton won MTOCs at u14 (2014) and u16 (2016)....current junior class at OA.

Hasn't the creation of Weymouth's club team and Braintree's as well lessened their ability to compete at MTOC. For example, the previous poster said Easton won 2016 U16s. Braintree had their best players playing on a Division 1 maple team not playing town travel.

90% of Club players play both Club and Travel soccer up until U16. I think the poster was pointing out that Braintree and other towns regardless of there club programs aren't fairing as well or maybe not developing players as well as Weymouth club program or surrounding clubs in which weymouth kids play for. For example my son played WUFC from age 8-13 before heading to Bolts. Majority of development at WUFC but faced greater week in and week out challenges at Bolts

Norton did not win because of there senior class alone. They are still the team to beat until otherwise noted.

Also, in other DCL news. Concord-Carlisle has at least 12 returning seniors. Past 2 seasons they've had over 100 kids tryout and usually carry a big roster. They should be fine.

Acton-Boxboro will be loaded with seniors this year after a 7-4-7 campaign. Very possible they are the team to beat in the DCL this year.

Is a Brockton Vs Dartmouth 2-2 tie a surprise?

                Comment

Nope, they have a game that actually counts within the next few days wouldn't be surprised if both teams starters barely played

Who cares about MTOC's? Most town's teams are not made up of the top players. Just because 5 or 6 players play on a GPS and NEFC National Championship team doesn't mean they are going to lead their team to a State Title in HS.

                    No true correlation!

We can understand why: in many towns, the best players drop town soccer in favor of club. Many kids go to private school instead of their town's public school. The high school team consolidates 4 years' worth of kids, MTOC consolidates 1-2 years' (JV up to 3). If coaching matters, the coach at HS should be better. The quantity of play is greater in HS (about 2x more per week). You get the picture - there are a lot of reasons why success in one league and time may not correspond to success in another.
I would agree that success at the youth level doesn't necessarily translate into results in high school. However, if all else was equal it would. Of course all things aren't equal, but I would still say the youth success implies there is ability and it is more likely they would have success later.

Not sure I agree that HS coaching on average is any better than top youth. For every great high school coach there are 2 English teachers coaching.

Quantity of play in HS doesn't make any of the players better. No skill develop is happening.

I'm not suggesting that Weymouth are favorites to win state titles for the next 4 years, but they are very likely to have competitive teams.

no - this is HS -- not town travel

I would contend that high school is very much like town travel.

Not according to the U14 MTOC results which had Dartmouth winning 😀

Makes no sense at all. So you're suggesting that these teams are preparing for the season with scrimmages in which they don't actually play the starters?!! That wouldn't be much preparation.
