High school is the best part of the entire soccer journey. It's too bad soccer isn't done like football where the kids stay after school and train at the campus. The club thing is expensive and time waste. Playing under the lights at your high school is a blast for all.and the tax payers pick up the tab.

Now compare Friday night Varsity football. 1000-1500 paying adults. Give them a concession per cap of $10 since they have to buy for the kids that don't pay admission and you can see why HS football gets all the funding. Club was invented by parents who wanted more for their daughters than HS would provide. It is that way for most girls sports. No gate = no funding. Parents happy to pick up club expenses regardless who shows up to games. Been that way forever. Very few HS can draw a paying crowd to a girls sports event.

At $5 admission that equates to $250. Throw in $50 profit from concession and call it an even $300. Does that even pay for the lights? Definitely does not cover team costs.

Relax -- no high school sport makes money (including football and basketball). That is not their purpose anyway.

They play great possession soccer and the boys love playing for their school. Coach lets them play and stays out of the way!! Good balance. Should be an exciting season for the boys. They are loaded (and young, too) Who cares about scholarships, etc? As stated earlier, it's about the memories and friendships they develop along the way that counts.

We tried high school soccer this year and it is a joke. Coach is not licensed and runs a rec program that plays kickball. Team loses to every team that understands possession soccer. Already have 3 girls out for season with injuries and many more to come. If you have a good program and a licensed coach, high school can be a great experience and your kid gets extra touches. For my kid, it is a waste of time and will not be playing next year.

By the way...if you knew anything about soccer (as we all see...you don't)...in the kickball style of play, the mids never touch the ball (the ball goes over their heads)...it is the centerbacks and fullbacks that kick it long (you are a dumbass) to the forwards. So if your kid is toooo slow to chase it down, then she will never make it in the college level. Speed rules!!!!
