So what happens when you have a parent that behaves in a similar fashion; whacked out on pain pills, screams at the players, threatens the club and coach?

Getting rid of a parent is easier than getting rid of a coach. A parent can be banned from the games or her child can be released from the team. Your pretty much stuck with the douche bag coach unless you can get the president of the league your club is in involved.

I'm not sure that is entirely true as it seems that the club and team has/is being held hostage by the pain-pill-popper parent with the, "Shinning Star," player, and constantly threatens to leave if they don't get their way in every way!

Sad thing about,"Shinning stars," is they are like,"Shooting stars," and at some point, they become,"Falling stars!" And the sad fact is the parents are so caught up in their egocentric monopoly and other side-show issues, that when development changes are needed, they are still stuck in their, "Shinning star," rut, and at U16, things are going to happen quickly! Take heed?

If pill popping mom is threatening to take her shining/shooting star and leave then why not let her go.

One or two kids on the team get the free pass for their parents. Until they do not. Need strong coach to put an end to it. If coach doesn't care enough, suck it up and wait til next year. Mantra

Everyone would help them pack, but stupid coaches think the kid will make the club some shinning star

Just taking the post seriously for the moment:

If a coach were to appear intoxicated at a game -- team manager and/or one or two other parents would need to make a quick assessment. Obviously the coach will be unlikely to admit being drunk/high. If the assessment is that the coach is indeed drunk/high then I would say (a) immediate call to DOC and/or club administration if there is one (b) make a determination quickly if there is another club coach who can take over (c) make a determination of the coach can be "present" but then have one or two parents on the team bench handling things if necessary. (d) do not let the coach drive if he/she leaves. (e) forfeit the game if necessary. The refs would have to get involved with a forfeit situation (but really only get the refs into the specifics if they are adults -- this is not something to stick on 15 year olds). People will want to play the game but do so only if it can be done appropriately/safely. League rules might require a passcard coach but sometimes a manager can qualify.

If the coach were to appear intoxicated at a practice -- same thing on the assessment and notification. If a replacement coach cannot be present within a few minutes then make the decision to cancel practice -- notify parents (only -- not kids) of the reason and advise that additional step will be taken once the club is involved.

So maybe peer pressure is whats needed to straighten out this coach? Where will he and the team be this coming weekend? Disney? West Coast, East Coast, South? One way to make him behave is to make sure people are watching!?

Here is your opportunity for a possible intervention OP!

The wanna-be team manager abused our family this weekend with emails that trumped the actual team manager's email! What can we do.....sob, sob, sob; we live in a soccer world tyranny?
