Where have the Stars and Scorpions Gone?

The old adage about there being no such thing as bad PR would seem to apply to TS. After all of the bashing is said and done, there is only one club that seems to talked about on TS anymore... NEFC. Love them or hate them, that club and their supporters have without question become the primary focus of just about every discussion on this forum. That pretty much sums up the soccer landscape now in Mass, it's NEFC and the rest of the clubs now seem to be just after thoughts. Who would have imagined this scenario 5 years ago.

Congrats BDBD. Good work. Remain vigilant as always.

Back in the day, old school clubs (relatively speaking) like Stars and Scorpions were generally content to let the performance of their teams do most of the talking for them. NEFC takes a more modern approach, one defined more by the principles of product marketing and that recognizes the significant influence that social media has on customer perception. Different strokes for different folks.

I think you will see Stars and Breakers attempting to catch up in terms of their tech savviness. They are both active on Facebook and Twitter, but aren't yet quite as sophisticated at the type of marketing / video production that you see here. I presume CH plays a role in that, since he's got lots of experience with doing product placement videos for individual players as part of Soccer Aspect.

Trying to normalize your "research project," BTNT?

A lot of fake dexterity here.

BZBZ has droned on daily for years about how Stars (and Scorps) are "nothing but marketing hype," and here he is today applauding himself that NEFC is wonderful now because of marketing hype.

Hopefully NEFC has paid him a ton of money, because he has completely sacrificed his reputation as a consequence of his very devoted efforts.

Seems to be working because no one actually care what happens to the Stars at this point. Couldn't even get a rise out of TS when they got their arses handed to them out in San Diego and the only thing going on with the Breakers is Fred's mouth and ego.

It's quite clear that this board is so pro-NEFC, that people have gone away. Anything positive stated about either rival club is quickly subject to childish vicious attacks by the NEFC posting crew. I used to like to post frequently, but hardly do anymore and just occasionaly check in, and many I know that come on this board feel the same way. Why bother? It's not worth it. Congrats, you won the battle of the message board, for whatever that is worth.

Come on now, don't minimize the accomplishment. NEFC has been engaged in a life and death struggle for the hearts and minds of the club soccer-crazed masses. Or maybe it's the hearts and minds of the handful of regulars/wackos that frequent T-S. Either way, now that they have won, it's flat out wrong to deny them their fun!!

There are currently more than 50 people viewing this site so it is pretty safe to say that there is still interest in club soccer in this state. Assuming that no one appreciates NEFC's message is where the lunatic fringe on TS went wrong. They were so convinced that the Stars/Scorpions/ECNL paradigm worked for everyone when it really didn't and then discounted just about everything that NEFC was selling as inconsequential. Well NEFC is now the second largest club in the state and obviously the primary driving force club soccer in Mass. Did they misjudge things or what? Running a soccer club these days is more about the business side of things than it has ever been. All GOOD businesses promote their products well so all the lunatic fringe did with their constant bashing of the club and families associated with it was underscore how unprofessional the other options like the Stars and Scorpions actually were. Not controlling their message and letting lunatics like Perspective appoint themselves as their chief spokesman was a critical business mistake and so complaining about NEFC winning the marketing battle is nothing short of sour grapes.

The only reason NEFC is talked about here is their U15 girls team. They have one great team and make sure no one can forget it, but for anyone that forgot over half that team came from ss select in U13 so ss select deserves the credit

Most NEFC Elite teams have beaten Stars and Scorpions in EVERY age bracket. The GU15 team is far and away better than most teams, while the other NEFC age brackets are just slightly better than the competition. In regards to the SSS team, why did that team leave, and does development stop at 12 years old?? Sour grapes, if these girls were happy with the product they NEVER would have left SSS!! Sorry your daughter got left behind.

Give it a rest, BTDT. We were kidding when we said you did a good job. You have tainted NEFC's reputation more than you could possibly imagine. Keep up the good work.

Why should anyone from NEFC give the likes of your Break after the way you have trashed them incessantly?it's pretty clear that they Are now the top dog so why shouldn't they get to relish the moment?
