Moving up or down a level

Tryout time means movement for teams. If you have a child on the bottom of a top team or a child at the top of a second team, what are the pros and cons to making a move? Does a certain type of player do better in one scenario over another? For example a child who plays up to a challenge versus a child who plays afraid in big games.

It all comes down to which team the MILFs have kids on.

For the bottom of the A team player - a critical difference is if he/she is being "challenged" vs "struggling." Is the player is being pushed but mostly keeping up and learning a great deal? Is he/she staying positive? Still getting ok PT? Is the coach supportive? Or is he/ she battling to keep up, getting no PT, coach has written them off? If thats' the case moving down may be a good idea. Confidence can crash quickly, making a bad situation even worse.

For the top of the B team player - how big is the gap between A vs B level, not just team wise but talent wise as well. If there's lots of overall then go for A - playing with better teammates against more competitive teams, even if a marginal difference, is still preferred. But if it's a big gap and the player will be the struggling one described above, it may not be worth it. Even more so if the coach isn't supportive

you guys are a hoot. acting like it's a choice to move up to a club's "a" team. unless the team is imploding as the kids age out, and this typically happens only at small mom and pop shops, movement is one way, off the top team to make room for recruits.

A: a parent can always say no to what a club offers (hence, a choice)
B: parents need to decide if they want to have their kid considered for a different team within a club or at a different level at another club.
