You don't get it. That's all Cujo. He is the voice of all things rec and hates every player that is the least bit good because he thinks their egos are too big, Just ignore him. He doesn't know squat.

Who on this board would shamelessly and indeed very happily push fake news with out of left references to Cujo that not more than 3 people here even get?

And what are your credentials anyway to suggest that someone knows nothing by comparison?

ID2 and ODP can be fun for kids. If that is your attitude about it, then fine, by all means get involved. Neither is a route to the national team. Go take a look at the USSF roster announcement for any of the youth national teams. They very specifically say all the kids are from DA clubs.

For example, from the U15 team announcement:

"All 24 of the players brought into camp by Van den Bergh currently play in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. "

Right. My point was not that the national teams don't get kids from ID2 or ODP because DA players aren't participating in those programs. My point is that the USSF is not looking at kids in ODP and ID2. The "Olympic development" rhetoric of those programs is not really true. USSF only scouts kids from DA programs these days.

Having said that, as long as you appreciate it for what it is, resume fodder and possibly fun for the kids, I think people should get involved.

Where exactly do you think the DA clubs will be looking for the future DA players? Pretty simple, the bigger the resume the more demand there will be for the player. The DA is a program that will encourage the two clubs to blatantly go out and recruit the very best young players in their market. It's the whole goal of the program so there won't be any sort of rules stopping them. Since ODP starts at 12 you can expect the kids that they pick for their regional pool will be scouted heavily by the DA clubs and recruited first. Then the kids who get selected for ID2 will come next.

Shows how utterly stupid you are Cujo. The clubs already have their lists of the top 20-30 players in the state as early as U10. ODP just confirms it for them.

You really have no clue do you? I am not Cujo first of all. Secondly the DA clubs could care less if a kid does ID2 or ODP. They start at such an early age that those things do not matter one bit. They ID the kids at RDS, their affiliated clubs or within their own club to assign the kids to the DA teams. ID2 and ODP play zero factor at this point.

I am the same poster as above. Id2 could pose as a way for a kid that plays for a non-affiliated club that doesn't get much attention to show his ability but most kids are identified prior to ID2 at this point. There could be a diamond in the rough!

Hopefully you realize that not all kids live near DA club, especially not MLS clubs that run RDS programs? Is ID2 or ODP as big as DA scouting? Of course not. But it is does find kids, who then typically move into more challenging programs if they're able. Also some kids either can't (because of location) or don't want DA, so any other item on their resume makes a difference with recruiting.

It's naive to think that all the best players have been identified and placed on DA teams by U13.
Another factor to consider is that there are many parents that don't wish to commit to the demands of DA. Many that I have spoken to want their kids to enjoy playing other sports and play in HS.
It may not make sense to a parent that is mapping out college and career paths for their 12 year old, but it's reality.
