Exactly right and the best way to kill a team. Many times, coaches realize what they had too late and lose players they should have had in leadership roles.

With all due respect to Geno, he has two starting fives of All Americans, knows he can win with the back of his bench and cannot be fired. Easy to be principled. Imagine the unproven coach trying to win games, and has a family to support.

Love the lessons and attitude but it is the equivalent of comparing Bill Belicheck to Hue Jackson. Belicheck can trade Collins, Jones and potentially Butler and he knows he is still good. No real oversight or pressure to do anything else but what he thinks is best. And he will still make a deep run in the playoffs.

Players want to play for him. Those All Americans can go anywhere they want.

Let's face it, he is successful because he attracts great players, he attracts great players because he has depth in his coaching intelligence, but he would win even with mid level players because heart and determination win every time.

Soccer coaches, especially our beloved club coaches, need to grow up and watch this in order to also understand not every player has reached their pinnacle in skill at 13 or 16, but if their attitude at 13 or 16 is positive and supportive, you probably have a winner on your hands.
Give me thirty years experience, pay me Geno money and I'll grow up.
Wonder what your boss says about you?
