Realistically though, who did you think their national search was going to surface. It is freaking Storrs after all and this isn't hoops. Connecticut is headed toward bankruptcy. More companies are fleeing the high tax state then are coming to CT, cutting the corporate subsidizes to the tax rolls and taking the productive wealthy (Under a democrat definition) taxpayers with them. Massive underfunded pension and health care costs. MAjor cities in financial disarray and sub par infrastructure. Just got the Red State kiss of death from Trump and the Republicans with the new SALT limitations. It is only a matter of time before UCONN gets hit harder than they already have by budget cuts from the state. Staff will be cut and scholarships reduced.

Personally, I would much rather coach at Trinity, Conn College, Wesleyan, Yale, Fairfield, even QU, than Uconn. If she has any success, she will be swooped up by a better program in a few years if she has such ambitions

Dude, you'd kiss major arse to get a college gig anywhere.......we both know that. You can't even get a college coaching gig, much less think you'd have a choice. Keep watching on the parents' side. That's where you belong.

      Such a tool....

There are plenty of kids who would be thrilled to play college soccer against Tulsa, Houston or just about anybody.

Let's see if they fill their roster next year and the year after that and the year after that......and so on.

My bet is that those roster spots will all be filled.

The roster will certainly be filled but by players at least 2 tiers lower than the players they were getting only 2-3 years ago. He is not wrong that their level of play is on the steep decline (just like men's basketball) .... tough to recruit top players from anywhere when you are mediocre program in a bad conference.

.... doesn't help when your tiny stadium only seats about 4,000 and they sell concessions out of Klotter Farms sheds.

Because there are so many programs out there that draw more than 4000 per game.

Since most of the schools playing college soccer play a mediocre game at best and most of the conferences are fairly forgettable, what's your point?

There are so very few true soccer stars out there, so why would they not end up at the very few elite schools?

              What's your point?

Expect it to keep dwindling for UCONN ..... notice the ranks of the top teams .... many of which they used to be better than. Lots of programs have passed us in the past 5 years.

ECU just hired a new HC too: http://www.ecupirates.com/news/2017/...aspx?path=wsoc

Look at MR's experience vs that of her peers (which are in a crap conference) .... Not wishing her to do poor, but UCONN should have done an honest search (look at the prior experience for each before they got their current HC spots):

you are right about me getting a college gig.......the community is very small and they keep recycling the same garbage coaches like you. I know I could recruit better than you. I also know I can put together a better game plan than you probably put out. I read my daughters game plans that she gets from her coaching staff....pure garbage. As for game management...I am pretty sure I can recognize when it is time to have players switch positions, assignments and to sub in bench players so that my players are dragging in the second half because you couldn't get them fit in the offseason. Plus, I would actually watch game film and make adjustments from one week to the next as needed

That's a tough travel schedule for not playing the best teams in the country. Hard to be a STUDENT athlete when you are all over the country every other week and have to use Fridays as travel days. Plus, why should I have to pay (as a CT tax payer) for a bunch of girls to fly to Florida and Texas, etc every other weekend and all the hotel bills and ground transport and meals. UConn is not Penn State or Duke or USC. Not going to be a final 4 team. Cant wait until I move from the Red state

Did she clean house with the coaching staff? The UCONN website now only shows her as coach, no assistants. She's going to be busy.

                          I’m
Sure she will hire a good friend of hers that played at UConn but she will need to bring in a recruiter to secure the top NE players and have some international connections.

Wait you met her? WOW. I played with her. Driven, smart and resourceful. Humble, diligent and upfront. She's going to empower young women. She will bring in the players. Storrs is an excellent place to go to school. She will shine

Agreed! Just hope the AD gives her time to mold the program into her own. That takes a few years. Even though she has been there, Recruits still needed to be vetted by the old Greek. No easy task. Without him there to muddy the waters, I expect she will do well.

The old Greek didn’t even know the recruits nor did he ever see them play before showed up at Storrs. These are all MR and ZS’s recruits.
