This is actually a perfect analogy. Despite your keyboard flexing you will choose the airline and soccer club that can actually get you where you hope to go. If you want the direct route, your choices are limited. If you are willing to go the extra mile or work a connection, by all means exercise your loyalty
Not the poster but in many instances in life there are multiple options out there. That includes soccer clubs.

I am done with club soccer. 3 kids @1.5k for spring season per kid. Zero refund "virtual training" = me training in the backyard. I can do that for free!

Wow! I thought his kid went to Delaware and bombed out. Then transferred to UMass Boston and bombed out? Is the kid a DAP Academy coach now ?

Exactly. That's why the Airline analogy works. You have many options for any destination including multiple airlines or alternatives such as car, bus, train. But for some destinations, you realistically have to fly. If your destination is HS, you may not need club soccer, but if the destination is college you kind of have to travel via club. For reach destinations like D1, there are only a couple of clubs that fly direct. Your options are limited.

I wish this weren't case, and much like Logan Airport, we are fortunate to be in Boston, because we have more options than most.

Many people are being laid off or losing their jobs. Clubs got paid up front, so they didn’t even take a hit. They just keep their money, without even having to report for duty.

On average, clubs profit margins run between 10-20%. That’s it. Staff are still being paid and coaches will be paid once they are able to coach. Not one club is rubbing their hands together or counting their cash. They all want to be out there. No different from other small businesses they are on the verge of collapse.

Some clubs, not all, make their margins through tournaments and field rentals (if they own them). Tuition alone can't keep a big club afloat.

I repeat. They were already paid their tuition up front, long before this crisis. They are not giving money back. They are not coaching, or providing any service to speak of. They got paid for a job upfront, and are unable to complete the job. If they don’t return money, they still got paid for a job that wasn’t complete. Other businesses, are not getting paid for services not rendered. There is a big difference.

Everyone is in the same boat, trying to stay afloat.

Bull. The math is simple: $2000 per family x 16 players = $32000/annually. 3 tournaments = $3000. League fees for fall and spring = $2000. Coach pay = $4000, 48 outdoor practices on 1/3 field = $4800, 24 indoor practices 1/3 field = $2400, indoor winter league fee = $1000, insurance and overhead = $2000. That’s about $18000 in expenses and I was being generous. $14000 in profit. Tweak the numbers, still plenty of room in there. Add two more ayers for a roster of 18, that’s another $4000 in revenue.
