I'm looking at the ECNL schedules on the app right now. Can't "screen shot" it because, you know, TS. ECNL published: March 6, 10:30 JFC v. FESA, then on that same day, at noon, GSA v. FESA and then 12:30 JFC v. Concord. Must be a mistake. It's against ECNL league rules for any player to participate in more than one match a day.

You can’t poach those that are already jumping ship. Those parents were fed up with Bubb and his Bubbery. Constantly praising the 07 boys to the 07 girls parents, as if it were apples to apples comparison. Micromanaging coaches until they quit, leaving the girls with more mid year coaching changes. Installing an unpopular team manager and her daughter based on the connection (wink wink nudge nudge) with a coach on staff. Sending in JS as a mid year replacement, when the parents had already seen how woefully underprepared his coaching had left those girls, was the nail in the coffin. Can you blame them? They were headed for the hills long before they knew who would be coaching at JFC.

Still a turd. Just with better players. There is two parts to the equation: 1) caliber of girls on your team that you train and play with, and 2) the coaching ability to develop. The superteam achieved 1) for sure but woefully missed on 2). Parents don't care because they are winning but that is shortsighted because their potential to develop and be even better is stunted by an underwhelming coach. A monkey can coach wins with good players.

Think back to Covid tryout time. What were the choices those parents had? Stay, hope this year will be different than the last several and that this unknown entity coach will stay, or make a move. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and thinking you will get a different result, right? The anchors for the offense and defense were leaving, and I know that influenced the teammates a great deal.

Running the score up against the bottom of the ECNL table is to be expected. Playing the FESA 2007 team full of B teamers and benchies (2-0) is embarrassing for a team packed full of the best 2007 players in NE Florida. However, considering the can of soup running the show, anything is possible I suppose.

Once a kid gets the coveted A team spot, they very rarely get demoted as long as they keep paying and playing as they age up all the while taking up oxygen and opportunity for higher potential B team players who have some size and athletic ability but need to catch up on technical. Clubs very rarely demote A team players for fear of quitting or defections.
Successful academies and clubs in Europe do not have fixed A, B, C, D teams at age groups. They train and develop players in pools and move them around quite often in their playing pool. At any time. Up and down. The best players end up on the best teams as they age up. No politics or financial concerns. No roster commitments for the year and beyond.
Ask yourself, how many of the A team rosters at U10 end up being stars on the U15 ECNL? VERY few............. How many high potential B and C team players got bored and quit on a lousy team and weak coaching? Tired of waiting their turn, if ever?

Word at the fields this weekend is that some of FESA's rec teams in the fall took their teams as a whole and are now Competitive teams at JFC with the same volunteer coaches. Interesting idea depending on cost.
