What % of D1 men played DA soccer?

When you look at D1 men's soccer rosters you realize that MANY players have no Development Academy experience.

Why does everyone think you need to play DA to make a D1 squad?

Does anyone know what percentage of D1 soccer players come from the DA?

Here's the list. Get to work. If you're looking for local schools start at the bottom and work your way up.

I started at the top with Indiana.

      29 rostered players.

      16 former DA players.

      13 former HS players.

      44.8% non-DA players.

Nobody says you NEED to play DA to make D1 squad.

They provide a better path, but not the only path.

What qualifies the DA path as better?

DA fan boys declare it so.

DA is not a necessity for college soccer. If you want a top 50 program then doing DA will give you a better chance at that, but even there it's not an absolute necessity. Lower than that and certainly D2 and D3 it is not at all required. Skills are required. Families considering DA should take a look at rosters of programs and see where players came from. The annual commitment threads, which obviously northeast-centric, and a good place to start. The other issue in this area is that the DA club options aren't the greatest.

DA makes excelling in AP classes almost impossible.

If you want to go to URI or UNH you will probably be fine in DA.

You can forget Wake, UNC, UVA, Duke or Stanford.

Play for NEFC NPL, play for your high school and then punch your ticket to BC. It's a much better school than most of the other D1 colleges kids commit to around here.

Not true. Duke has DA players.

DA gives better recruiting visibility than non-DA.

                    How so?

So far, we're actually finding it easier to get schoolwork done. Nothing like 4 hours of boredom in the car to knock off your work.

Bolts had recent players at Stanford & Duke. Duke standout now a Pro in England.

RTD kids dont play DA. They have their own team that travels to tournaments.

What! Those players either hardly played and left or didn’t play much. If you want big names, try Berkshire/Black Rock.

There is his Duke career. Note the starts. Maybe his English famous daddy could get him a slot on some low level English side. If you can’t play for Duke, no EPL. Now JH of Berkshire is another story.
