Women’s Soccer is just becoming a thing for the rest of the world, as such they (countries that allow women’s sports) have closed the gap on the US athletic Girls, with better technique, training & tactics.

World hasn't been in the dark to womens soccer. USA won cup in 99 then didnt win World Cup again till 2015. We are in good shape to win again in France but the notion that no other country cares till now is a false narrative. USA will always be tops in Womens Soccer because our best athletes on the womens side play soccer. Sorry fellas, those are the facts.

Well said and thank you for reiterating my point. Now, if you are a boys soccer honk because you coach or your son plays, please realize you are coaching or parenting a 4th or 5th tier athlete on balance. Stop comparing yourself with girls - it's embarrassing.

Foolish comment. The problem with men’s soccer is not athletic ability or tier of athelete. The problem is poor coaching and terrible technical development.

            No Problem

There is no problem with men's soccer. The reality is the vast majority of the male athletes on the planet want to be professional soccer players and will sacrifice anything to get there. It is a way out of the ghetto, a pathway to a better life.

Across the planet females are not looking to sports as a way to better their situation, most don't even play soccer, probably the furthest thing from their mind.

At the highest level the men's world cup looks very different from the women's. Even at the college level it is very different in terms of competition for roster spots. Not good or bad just a reality.

When USA best athletes play soccer our mens team might be as good as our womens teams. Till then its just the woodshed for USA boys.

Such a tired narrative. In fact, many (most) of the world's best players have come from humble beginnings yes but to paint them as being from the "ghetto" with no other chance for success without soccer is a reach of epic proportion.

Many of the best have come from middle class and affluent neighborhoods in Spain, England, Scotland, Germany, Holland and Italy to name a few. Trying to lump the world's soccer players having all come from the streets of Mexico or the jungles of South America is foolish.

Yes thank you. This ghetto thing is a fairy tale and out of control.

The best male athletes in the US are not going to soccer.

Just take a look at the sports coverage in the US for high school sports.

Maybe it will change in the future, but at present you are getting the softer boys for sure.

I don't care to watch women's basketball for any reason, as it compares nothing to the male version. Same goes for women's soccer, what's the point? Watching underwater soccer is not much of a thrill, compared to the men's game on the planet.

This has nothing to do with the country of good ole USA. It's called preference and nearly the entire population on planet earth sees it this way.

I like eating steak, bone in-filet....some people like jello that's that's been in the fridge for only an hour and not fully formed.

For each their own. If it's your thing, so be it.

Comparing steak to bad jello is like comparing Men's Soccer to Women's Soccer. Next.

It might change one day but mens soccer doesn’t attract the best athletes in our country like it does in other countries around the world. The opposite is true for women’s soccer.

Actually Track and Field attracts the best 'atheltes'.

                              Lets do a little research.

The athletic characteristics of a male soccer player on average is 5'11" 169. Based on the below I don't think many football, basketball players or baseball players are going to be elite soccer players

Ave MLS soccer player 5'11" 169 lbs
Ave NBA BBall player 6'7" 222 lbs
Ave NFL Fball player 6'2" 246 lbs
Ave MLB BaseB player 6'1' 208 lbs

The average height of a NCAA D1 women's basketball player ranges between 5'8" to 6'0" The 2011 US Women's soccer team had five forwards ranging from 5'11" to 5'4"

I would argue at the elite level in the US and around the world soccer is attacking the best male athletes because the diverse psychical requirements based on each sport.

I would say for women the height and weight of those athletes participating in sports that require cardio are very similar and the sports lose top athletes to each other all the time.

What separates the competitiveness of men and women athletes around the world in participation. Fewer countries support and encourage female athletic competition then male. I am happy I live in country who supports and encourages female athletes.

Your theory needs a little more work.

In the US all the male studs go to the other sports. Soccer gets what's left. Kids who aren't muscular enough to play football or tall enough to play basketball or have the hand/eye to play baseball.

Think of the playground. The other sports chose their teams and head off to play. Then, the short and weak kids are left and they head to the soccer field.

I am exaggerating a bit, but not a lot.
