Is it worth playing HS soccer senior year if the coach sets a very bad example and shows little character before during and after the games?

Does the school AD not see what's going on? There's no room for a coachike that in school sports.

It is worth it because life is full of bad examples and poor character! Its an opportunity to have your senior learn to rise above it, and maybe pull his/hers peers up with them? Next year, many will be in college, and some away from home, they will be running into coaches that are not so great, professors that might not be so great either.

HS coaches are paid practically nothing for the work and time they put in. HS boys are not the easiest group either. How about all the parent volunteers that it takes to keep the program afloat have some words with the coach or AD on how they can help out coach and team.

Sometimes, its not the coach at all, but rather the frustrated parent because they want the kid to be the all star and their not?

Oh you mean soccer might just be about representing your school and, wow, I know it's a novel idea..... But, "Having fun?"

So, please enlighten us as to where you are geographically located, so that when we play tournaments after HS season is over, we know which teams will be burnt out.

This thread comes up every year. High school soccer is great if you want the opportunity to represent your school. The quality of play is bad for most games, but as long as people stay uneducated about how few soccer scholarships are available, they will keep the kids off high school teams chasing their pipe dreams. 9.9 scholarships per team for d-1. That's total, not per year. It drops to 9 for d-2 and none for d-3. Unless you are the best of the best, play high school soccer and relish the opportunity to wear your school colors. 10 years form now you will be kicking yourself for not doing it.
