The line of discussion was about Braintree's prospects. Some are positive based on 2012 record and returning players, while another questioned because part of 2012 record was non-league wins against smaller schools like CM. Then the point was that CM shouldn't be thought of as small in the same way that the publics are. Part of that point was a good soccer team from several years ago. More recently, CM was 3-5-0 in their league in 2012, 2-5-1 in 2011.

Yes but they are 3-5-0 in arguably the toughest league in the state. Personally I put the Bay state carey and the Catholic leagues as the best so a 3-5 record in CM's conference isn't the same as 3-5 in others. But anyway, yeah you are right about how this all came about. I still don't think CM is anywhere near the Dedham/Norwood level. Those teams are cakewalks for bigger D1 schools. Regardless of how much CM has regressed since the state title they aren't a cakewalk.

The final score was 2-0. I'm not sure you understand the phrase "cakewalk"

Agree that CM's in one of the top leagues. But if beating a mediocre team in that league is similar to beating a mediocre team in Braintree's own league, beating CM doesn't support the argument that Braintree should be stronger in 2013. Braintree may indeed be better, but thar argument is better made with other points. In what game did their primary scorer get knocked out for the season? Do they have a balance of attack so that he can't be taken away by good opposition? Is their defense modernized, or still playing deep sweeper?

Nobody used the win against CM as meaning much of anything for this season. What was disputed was that it was similar to a win against Dedham/Norwood.

Norwood's 2012 team vs CM might have a close contest. Expecting a down year for Norwood in 2013.

                  Norwood

Down year for Norwood, are you saying they were a good squad before? They were awful and had a great player who will be at Holy Cross next year?....they will be lucky to score more than .5 goals per game this year and Im betting on the under.

PB didn't skip the meet; he quit the track team because of the soccer conflict. He didnt break the bona fide team rule.

Anything out there? Coaching changes or teams looking for games still?

Preseason starts a week from Monday. I like Framingham in the BSL, everyone else lost too much. Braintree could move up and be a tournament team again and no one wants to play them in the tournament. How will Weymouth fill the holes lost from last year? Can Needham stay atop?
