If the USSF wanted to have the girls side be like the boys side, they would have replicated the funded thing. Without that it is a completely different animal.
of course they can. Im addressing why dual clubs would stop offering GDA.

also, not all boys DA is fully funded, and those that are are not funded by the USSF.

I though the few clubs that did that were the ones on the ECNL board. Were there any others that had both?

^^ This. He did and he still has influence becasue many of the coaches have not changed Or have simply been promoted carrying the same "network" with them. YNTs are a bastion of status quo.

When you paying, the clubs compete for your business, When the clubs are funding it, you are competing to get selected.

they can best compete for paying boys by offering them BDA competition. Is it the same equation on the girls side?

Good point, but the ultimate benefactors on the boys game vs girls make it so hard to compare

They're funding a few token scholarships and a lot of USSF staff and overhead

In fact only about 1/3 of are funded through via MLS clubs - really it's less than that because there are a number of clubs that only have U12-14, then it funnels into a smaller set of clubs with DA from U15+. One MLS team is not free to play. All other clubs are pay to play.

someone has to speak the truth :) Soccer in the US is pay to play. The exceptions are so few they're more of a footnote.
