Stars have nothing to do with the Breakers. JD is a follower who never had an original business idea of his own.

The clean up crew is back, but it will be tough to clean up this team.

It's the same thing every time. My daughter's club will be next. They hate GPS too. And apparently Scorpions, Aztecs, Select, Bolts... Divisive is the right word, but they think it is effective. I don't know of a club other than Breakers that cares as much. Most are focused on their own. This site used to have some useful information. Now it is just a place for Breakers to bash other clubs, coaches, even kids.

Sums up every thread. Read them all, starting at the top. You can substitute NEFC where appropriate. This was a thread about the "professional" team.

Breakers are making a name in youth soccer because of NEFC! What have the Breakers ever done

How about, partnered with NEFC to make a name for themselves in the youth soccer, get ECNL and DA licenses and have 1000 NEFC girls walking around in Breakers clothing?

                Seems pretty smart, doesn't it?

Sure, if you want to run a youth club, not a professional franchise.

Not if it doesn't amount to money for the Breakers. They had so many big picks last year that they won't this year and even then they came in second to last in the league. They don't own the facility at Harvard and never will. They have a terrible record year in and year out. They have second-rate coaches and management. If NEFC can pay for a real coach and structure rather than some no namers maybe they'll have a chance.

Seriously? It's standard practice in their industry, male or female, in the US or abroad. If there's one thing this professional franchise has gotten right, it's where they are with their youth/academy program partnership. Necessity or not, they were smart to acqui-source it, they were just dumb for many reasons in who they chose to partner with initially, but smart to make the change they did.

It's standard practice when you can develop talent to play in your professional team or sell the talent off to generate revenue. This is not a factor in the NWSL. If the Breakers are playing the long game and expecting this to change fair enough but this is more of a marketing relationship right now. That's absolutely fine I just wouldn't pretend it's anything else.

It works right up until the Revs decide to field a fully-funded girls academy like LA Galaxy did.

Galaxy are adding a women's pro team, the Revs are not. That's why.
