Out of state players

GPS NPL 15's team this year does have a few players from out of state, whats the big deal? The twins are from RI and one boy is from out of state but is attending prep school in mass. I am not so sure why you think that's a problem.

The post was in response to post #29 in which the poster said GPS Elite teams do not pull from other states which is obviously not true. I didn't say it was a problem. Though if GPS uses the Bolts/Revs model, why don't they play against other academy level teams instead of clubs that pull just from Massachusetts. Obviously, if you are big enough to pull from other states that gives you an advantage. Can we agree on that? That being said, GPS still hasn't been able to separate itself from the rest of the clubs, so maybe the advantage is not that significant.

I will argue that everything going on in club soccer in Massachusetts, and New England, is a reaction to what GPS has been doing. GPS is the trend setter, and leading the way in the region. GPS has changed the landscape of club soccer in the northeast. They will be a DAP club, and ECNL before NEFC. The ones who think otherwise, have no idea of what is really going on.

team will still be good, but "got to win" tactics will be gone with DR back at the helm. Old coach knew how to get results and won/tied quite a few games where they were over matched. Kids will probably play a better brand of soccer though

The probability of adding another or displacing a DAP club in MA seems miniscule. Therefore, GPS is relegated to club tournaments and cannot play academy level.

GPS is definitely the trendsetting club in MA. In addition to their partnership with Bayern, arguably the worlds top performing club, they create a strategic competitive base of Elite team members. Other club "parents"/managers might be seething with envy because they cannot pull such talent within their own ranks (but would love to do so if they could, and try at all costs to apply club passes and such to turn events their way).

I am not familiar with the process for becoming a DAP club. Is there a limit to number per state?
