As a nation we continue to lower the expectations associated with our children. We generate new levels, new branches of the "Elite" tree so that we can wedge as many children under the shade it throws so everyone feels accomplished.

Traditionally accomplishments were celebrated because they were the result of resolve, dedication and commitment to task off the field, Monday through Friday, especially when the coach wasn't around.

Today, in the current environment, accomplishments are manufactured. Truly special kids sometimes get lost in the white noise generated by a sea of overly optimistic parents and self-aggrandizing clubs.
    Define "overly optimistic " ,please.

Oh right, because kids who play NEP and R1 are actually well rounded individuals in addition to being very good soccer players, with other sports and activities in their lives. Good catch. Thank you for pointing that out.
