This is suppose to be a fun thread and just play like a fantasy league update based on results and style of play.

    Spring Tournament Rankings

    1) NEFC Elite - The top dog but seem to becoming a one trick pony and most top level teams are starting to figure it out. Did not show well at Jefferson Cup also. Weak NY NPL is not going o help this team develop. Should switch with Premier team and play R1.

    2) Stars ECNL - Just as good but also surviving on their direct play and size the past few years. Other teams are starting to figure it out also. Did not play any preseason tournaments but having friendlies with older and younger teams will help with them getting ready for ECNL play this weekend. They seem to focus more on training outside at Acton all winter than playing games. Good call Stars

    3) Boston Breakers Academy - New name and new coaches. SS did an ok job getting this team in the right direction in the fall but I think CB will take them to a new level. They have played with more confidence and as a team than in years past.

    4) NEFC Premier - I think 4 and 5 are the same except for playing style. NEFC Premier is more of a direct team like the NPL team and will get some good results in NEP games. They have some tough competion in R1. It would actually be better of the NPL and Premier team switched.

    5) Stars NPL - Are a very good team and play a very nice indirect style of play. they move the ball well but also benifit from have a very good keeper. The NPL is not as competitive for them as probably thought but I think some of these teams will be much improved this spring. Played in a few spring tournaments and up at U16 in the Scorpion Bowl. Week third tier teams but 2 years older. Skill beats physical play.

    6) Aztec NPL - I think they are better than the rest of the NPL teams but still have some room to grow. They play a physical defensive game and play a combination of direct and indirect in the attack. They should do well in the NYNPL league. Have several NPL teams to compare them to for the future.

    7) CSU - Well coach team that moves the ball well. They have a very good keeper that can keep them in games and a few key players in the midfield and up top. Just not enough horses to get them into the next level yet. Not in a very competitve NEP division unless they are playing somewhere else also.

    8) GPS - They are a big physical team and play very agressive. When they try to play soccer they are not as good as the other teams. They win by playing old school Irish soccer, body then ball. All depends of the referee for their success. Will move up if they play well against other NY NPL teams. Most over ranked team in the state according to GS.

    9) Bayside - They play a very physical game but have some very quality players. The problem with this team is their coach needs to direct the entire game. His players do not know how to think for themselves. They score at least 70% of their goals off corner kicks or set pieces from outside the 30.

    10) NE Rush - I have mentioned some other teams play direct soccer but NE Rush play route 1 the entire game. They live and die by the long ball. They have big strong athletic players that can kick the ball real far. It is effective to win games but not much development going on with them yet. I would like to see them try to paly a more indirect style to develop more players.

    11) Boston Breakers NPL - This team is the most up an down team I have ever seen or heard play. I watched them play CSU top team and played fantastic. I hear they lost to CSU second team and Star third team. But they tied Bayside and NE Rush in what I hear were good games also. Will the real slim shady please stand up. If they could get some consistancy to their game they cold move out of the celler.

    12) NSU - I have only seen them play a few times and they are solid team. they move the ball well but lack some finishing touches. They sould do well in MAPLE know that CSU top team is gone. I will have some information to go on with NE Rush ad Fuller still in MAPLE.

    13) Fuller - Have not seen them play in some time. Not mcuh to say yet.

We will start here and work our way through the season.
Pretty interesting list. I have a daughter on one of these teams and we've played quite a few of the others, and i'd say you are pretty close across the board. Sure, it's not perfect and you will undoubtably ruffle some feathers, which should make for some entertaining TS banter! Now to guess what team your D plays for....... I'd say Scorps ECNL. A) everyone else still calls them Scorps not Breakers B) they just came off some pretty good play this past weekend and the parents are all excited and before this weekend, would not have been ranked #3 (even in your own minds) and C) you know too much about SS coaching in the fall and CB in the spring (think only an insider would know the precise coaching split since they are both listed as coaches)...... BINGO!!

Wrong! But i clearly struck a nerve, so you must be Scorps ECNL. And by the way, what's so bad with Stars NPL? They have had great success. Is everyone still hating on BB?

Nope, no affiliation with this age group even. Just calling a spade a spade.

Just a few corrections to your list. Breakers NPL is a terrible team. 5th, no way. NEFC NPL does not exist. They play NEP and Region 1 I think now. stars NPL probably a top 3 team IMO.

Interesting comment someone made about NEFC elite (NPL) switching with NEFC Premier Region 1. I think that has merit. NEFC Premier has the tougher schedule IMO than Elite. Scorps ECNL showed guts over the weekend. Maybe they should be in the conversation now as being among the best teams. They were not in this conversation last year. Breakers NPL should be playing Maple Blue.

NEFC NPL plays in the NYCSL and they very much exist. They are not in the same league as Stars NPL or Breakers NPL but they have the NPL suffix just the same.

Reduced trainings (1x in 17 days for instance), no clinics, canceled training with no makeup, reduced tournaments and very little of the bill of goods we were sold coming here. Not hating on him. He was tasked with building Stars South, but we got the short end of the stick.

OP, I am not a Boston Breakers parent but have several friends on that team. They have raved about the coaching change in the fall and over the winter. Not just because they did well at the Scorpion Bowl and NEFC tournament. I talk to a lot of parents from other teams when we play them and take my daughter to most of the top level games. I have watched Stars ECNL vs NEFC Elite NPL a few times last year, including the state cup game. It is good to watch the top level games with your kids. I also think the Breakers NPL team would have been better off playing in MAPLE or NEP this year due to being a new team. They will have their struggles but they are competitive in all their games. This is what soccer should be about, competitive games. They have lost a ton of game by 1 goal. The problem is that they cannot finish and rumbles are they give up soft goals, not a good combination. As I stated they played a great game against CSU top team and beat them 1-0. I think in time they will become a very good team or crash and burn. Take your pick. I am also putting Scorpions ECNL a head of Stars NPL and NEFC Premier R1 due to they did better against similiar competition. My rankings are about present performance and not last years.

                    I am going to sign

An NPL team can't just go randomly play in another league. They are NPL because they are committed to the NPL league.

These are my top 10 rankings. While some people are basking in the glory of doing well in a cold pre-season tournament, the real game begin when the weather is warmer. Teams work on different things during preseason, while other have a point to prove and are going all out to try and win games.

1 - NEFC Elite - still the top team. People talk about results this year. You can only go on results against the teams you have directly competed against, so NEFC just about shades it.
2 - Stars ECNL - not much between the NEFC Elite team and this one. Still very talented, but no one has seen much of them.
3 - Stars NPL - again, they are probably comprable to NEFC Premier, but because they beat them the last time they met, they get the edge.
3 - NEFC Premier - after a host of new players from last year, they seem to be coming together as a group and beat their Region 1 opponent CFC 2-0.
5 - Breakers NPL - Breakers stock is on the rise, but it will be interesting to see how they do this Spring. Have gotten some good preseason results, but it's not called preseason for reason.
6 - Aztec NPL - another team on the rise and have picked up a few players which has made them stronger.
7 - Bayside - Bayside are a physical scrappy team, but lack a goalscorer
8- Seacoast - Seacoast is big and physical and tries to play the right way. Their defense and midfield are tough
9 - NHPSA - Some quality players on this team. They seem to play a lot of teams ranked above them pretty tight, but they too lack a goalscorer
10 - GPS - Has risen in the last year. Are competitive, but lack a goalscorer

I was not suggesting that they should go play MAPLE and NEP, just it might ahve been better. I know they cannot just change lagues. I think WUP is the most over rated team in this conversation. I think the previous poster rankings were just pulled them from the GS website. GS is the biggest crock and do not factor how a team does in their brackets.

OK, so NEFC Elite wasn't really trying to win against Scorps ECNL on Saturday, which is why it ended up a 1-1 draw. Got it.

Let me get this straight. NEFC Elite NPL does not care to beat the Breakers (1-1) but wanted to open a can of you know what on the NEFC Premier team (4-1). Got it.

People are putting way too much stock in the precession. There are underdog teams that will likely surprise everyone but who didn't participate in much preseason.

Give the discussion a rest until the games that count get played.

March soccer is bad soccer generally.
