I agree that the Elite teams needed to move to ECNL to get stronger competition. Next year both ECNL and NPL teams will be very strong at NEFC. IMO the NPL games next year will probably be closer as the NPL teams will not be as strong as the current elites. Interesting though that the final games were similar in scores (U16) as the state cup games, and I believe the U14 NEFC team lost in state cup. Definitely better competition in the State they could have played and saved a lot of money.
Let the kids have their day. The parents and kids aren't delusional. They understand the level of competition. But they got there and they won, so let the teams celebrate.

Agreed! The kids are happy, and that's what matters. There will hopefully be better competition next year.

Obviously NEFC understands that, which is why their Elite teams are headed to ECNL next season as Boston Breakers.
Double edge sword. NEFC elite teams pretty much win all competitions they are involved. You name it: NPL, casl, PDA, GPS , etc... Yes the league may not be very strong but NEFC makes it also clear that they are one of the best clubs are n the country. Not up for discussion.

These leagues should stop being so proprietary and allow the best teams to play each other. There should be a true national championship competition.

There is not a player or a parent that does not want that. Many coaches too.

It would be great to have a year-end championship that brings together NPL, ECNL, USYS, DAP all into a single game series. Could limit it to these 4, host a semi-final and a final over the course of 2 days. No hype - just play the game.

              Who's up for planning this?

The comparison is completely on point. Just as some confederations are weaker than others, some leagues will be weaker than others, especially since there are parts of the country where USCS-affiliated leagues, such as NPL, are stronger, and other parts where USYS-affiliated leagues are stronger.

Better to have a single pyramid, teams could work their way up or down the leagues based on results. Move at the end of fall and again at the end of spring and pretty quickly teams would find their level. The players and parents would win, so the player pool would get larger and the clubs would win too (although not all.)

I think you should start this process. What is your detailed plan?
You know as well as I do that there is not enough inertia by anyone involved to make this vital event happen.

It was sort of a joke - but it would be good to see.

Would the teams actually play if a venue was organized. You'd only have 4 age groups U14, 15, 16, 17, 4 teams in each group, that's only 16 games. To be honest, that's not a whole lot of organizing. Would it need to be sanctioned by anyone? What would NPL, ECNL, or DAP and USYS say to those teams that played - would it put them at odds once the champion were crowned? It would certainly give one of them bragging rights for a year.

We could call it the TS Soccer Crown

Edit - 32 games with both genders - but still not a lot.
