What you want to try to limit is stuff like the TD article which you can bet was probably fed to the writer by the club as part of their PR machine.

I believe the big 12 requires its schools to honor scholarships for 4 years. Individual schools that don't require a four year scholarships are increasingly requiring their coaches to offer 4 year deals. These decisions are in part to combat early committments. It's not easy for a coach to deal with an expensive mistake in a kid who doesn't pan out. The best he can do is sit the kid and hope she transfers freeing up his money for another better kid. Texas is taking a risk that this child develops into a player that can compete at the college level.
Parchman loves this kid. She is clearly talented. Her father is one of the coaches of her excellent solar Chelsea team. He knows what's up in the soccer world and should be able to guide her well.
On the flip side- my daughter had had one college pressuring her to commit all through ninth grade. We, as well as her coach, have advised her to wait. She is now getting ready to start 10 th grade and has 4 offers on the table. The other schools are willing to work with her timeline. She is scheduled for 3 more visits and will likely commit after the Christmas events. She does have most of the resume boxes ticked. She is finding the decision very difficult. There has not been any ah hah moments for her. She is making lists to compare schools as objectively as she can. She is looking forward to it being over, but knows it's an important decision that must be carefully considered.
